My name is Vaios Vitos and I am a professional image storyteller focused on conservation impact in Greece, based in the Northern city of Thessaloniki, with a passion for nature, wildlife and landscape photography. As an image creator, photographer and cinematographer, I try to capture the beauty of the world around us so that we will understand better our planet and its great wonders and make ever
ybody decide to protect nature and its creatures. I have studied Business Administrator at University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, where I got my University degree and learned a lot of things about managing a business. But although I work as a manager, eventually I discovered is not my cup of tea. I started late in Photography, at the age of 24 years old, but quickly I realized that I was in love with creating images. For many years I worked at one of the best photo stores in Thessaloniki, selling photo gear and shooting social events like weddings. But my big love was and is nature, wildlife and landscape photography. As a National Geographic big fan, this is what I like to shoot, all year long. It is not only about Photography, but it’s all about the process of travelling and experiencing nature and its unique places and creatures. The feeling of being outside and away from man-made structures and environment and connecting with the earth, plants and animals is something that I don’t want to change. In 2012, I created pttl.gr (photonews through the lens), which since then is the no1 website about photography in Greek language. A news site that’s only purpose is to be a place where every photographer and videographer in Greece and in the world, will get all the news about photography and imaging, every day. A project that takes a lot of my time, but something that helps me give something back to the big Greek Photographic Community all over the world. You can call it the Greek Dpreview or Petapixel! pttl.gr have been collaborating with all big photography brands, Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, SIGMA, Tamron and some of the most important dealers in Greece, like Manios Cine Tools. The last years I have been organizing team or private workshops and trips for photographers. I am a peoples’ person, so I can imagine a better thing than to share experiences with other people that are passionate about nature, wildlife and landscape photography. I try to help everyone I can with Photography and Cinematography, but I also like to learn from others and take a look at their philosophy. I am a member of the board of the Union of Professional Photographers and Videographers of Central Macedonia and a representative of the Union in the Greek Federation of Photographers, where I serve on the board as a Secretary.
