【Up and Go】New Photography

Opening: 10 Feb 2012, 6-8pm
Exhibition: 7 to 26 Feb 2012

The Upper Station Photo Gallery has organized 9 different photography exhibitions, various seminars and workshops in the past 2 years. It creates a space for bringing the fans of art, in particular photography together. The gallery is going to hold the last group exhibition during 7-26 February before its closure. It aims to show the works of a number of young artists graduated from or current students of the Hong Kong Art School.

Ten young artists will participate in the event, they are Chan Yi, Rachel Ip, Ramond Ho, Gary Man, Kit P**n, Kenneth Ng, Tam Hing Kai, Ula Tsui, Sandy Yip and Boy Yiu. Their works have already been exhibited in the China Pingyao Intenational Photography Festival 2011. Different from the usual documentary and still-life photographs, most of the the works are conceptual. It is a valuable opportunities for the public to appreciate how young artists use photograph as medium to achieve their artistic goals. This further explores the possibilities of photography.

「Up and Go」
新生代攝影展

經過兩年多的努力，The Upper Station (photo gallery) 終於要在二月底結束了，過去兩年我們曾舉辦過九個不同的攝影展覽，也有講座與工作坊等，聚集了一班喜歡攝影及藝術的朋友。在二月我們將舉辦最後一個攝影聯展，展出一批正在／畢業於藝術學院的青年藝術家的攝影作品。

是次展覽一共有九位青年藝術家參與，當中包括陳怡、葉曉燕、文耀國、潘柬芝、伍煒豪、譚慶楷、徐婉丹、葉子珊以及姚君豪。他們的作品曾於二零一一年第十一屆平遙國際攝影大展展出。這些作品大多以概念攝影為主，有別於一般紀實或靜物攝影，從他們的作品中，我們可以看到青年藝術家如何用攝影這媒介去進行創作，開拓更多攝影的可能性。

展覽日期 : 2012年2月7日至2012年2月26日
開幕酒會 ：2011年2月10日 | 晚上6時至8時

After two years in operation, time has come for The Upper Station gallery to say goodbye. The gallery will be closed for business from 1 March 2012.

We would like to express our deepest appreciation for your support. Our existence was made only possible by your continual interests and repeated visits.

The mission in setting up “The Upper Station” was to create a space where fine photography would be shared and appreciated. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the exceptional photographers who have worked with us for believing in us.

Operating a gallery dedicated to photography was never going to be easy and it is no longer commercially viable for us to continue our operation at the existing location, given the increasing rental and inflationary pressure.

We are exploring other platforms to showcase some of our work and will certainly be in touch with our friends again should an alternative venue be possible.
