My first CD ever was Money For Nothing, it was a gift from a dear friend back in the early 90s when I got my first “Hi-Fi” set with CD player, tape deck and separate speakers. I must have listened to it more than a thousand times being the tireless teenager I was back then.

It’s also the album that inspired me to pick up the guitar, I searched many music shops and bought the tablature book to this album so I could learn the songs. We played Sultans Of Swing as the opening song in the first ever performance with our high school band.

So after all these years I’m pretty stoked to have collected this modest set of guitars, which looking at them alone makes me feel like a kid again! Dare I say that the only piece of the puzzle still missing is a Style O 14 fret 🫣

Ever since I saw that cheap Samick sunburst Les Paul copy as a kid back jn 1996, I knew I wanted a guitar like that, the 4 k***s fascinated me even though I did it know what they did, I loved the elegant white plastic pickup rings and the apparent complexity of the tune-o-matic bridge while all of it was perfectly highlighted by that reddish orange sunburst finish. It was not utilitarian at all, it was much more than a working man’s tool, it was art that carried dreams and fuelled passion, iconic and unforgettable! Happy Gibsunday!
