Recently, I had a fun shoot with and her amazing family. Honestly, photographing teenagers is a big challenge for me—but as I looked through their gallery, I kept thinking: the shoot went by so fast, and we all love the results🕺🏻

It wasn’t because the kids were perfectly behaved. It was because all the grown-ups stayed truly present. Instead of stressing about stiff poses, we just played, explored, and enjoyed the moment. And when things got a little wild, the parents didn’t worry about rules—they just went with the flow.

That’s what inspired this post! Whether you’re working with a busy toddler or a “too-cool” teenager, here are 5 things to know before a family photoshoot:

1️⃣ Your kids don’t need to behave; they need to be themselves. If they want to run, let them run. If they get bored, let them explore. The most cherished images are the ones where you are interacting and engaging with each other, not just staring at my lens.
2️⃣ Your energy sets the tone. If you’re relaxed and having fun, they will be too. Focus on loving your people, and I’ll focus on catching the magic.
3️⃣ Embrace the Chaos. Where there is chaos, there is connection.
4️⃣ Release the need for control. Simply be present in the love you’ve built.
5️⃣ If they’re tired or cranky, don’t try to “fix” it. Some of the most beautiful, authentic moments happen in the “in-between”
