Darija and Marko’s wedding was one of the hardest weddings I’ve ever had to photograph. The night before, we spent hours in the ER with our firstborn — our 8-month-old baby — facing his very first fever. It turned out to be “just a fever,” he was okay, and his daddy and my mom stayed with him to take care of him. So I was calm… but in my heart, all I wanted was to be with him and hold him close. Every mom will understand that fear, that pull in your chest.

Just weeks before, I had talked with a colleague about the price we pay for our job. In our work, there are no sick days.
No postponing.
No “maybe next week.” You have to go. You have to show up. You give your all.
No matter what’s happening behind the curtain.

So next time you think the price you pay for your vendors is too high, think of the price we sometimes pay to be there with you. 🤍

Being an only child of separated parents, and having a difficult relationship with my father, I’m always deeply touched by father–daughter moments on a wedding day. They hit a tender spot in my heart — a mix of sadness for the moments I never had, and joy that I get to capture them for my brides.

It’s a scar that will probably always stay with me, but it’s also what allows me to see and feel the depth of those connections. Being able to freeze these moments in time, and remind others how meaningful they are, is something I do with so much gratitude and love.

It’s not just photography for me — it’s honoring love in all its forms, even the ones I never got to live.
