Why do you travel? My husband enjoys the geology, topology, the science behind working things and national parks. I enjoy all of that, but I mostly am about the culture, the people, the food and seeing all that God has created. Traveling doesn't have to be going away on a ship, plane, boat or anything like that. Yesterday, I took the backroads from Spanaway to Centralia and Chehalis. It was delightful seeing country and small towns I haven't seen in a while. I was reminded of my wonderful days of biking the country roads and doing Seattle to Portland bike ride 13 times though back roads. I made it an adventure!! There are many, many places to see and enjoy in my own town, places I haven't experienced yet.
Biblical Perspectives on Travel & Culture:
*A Call to Explore & Trust: God often calls people out of their comfort zones to trust Him, such as the command to Abram to leave his native land.
*Rest and Renewal: Travel acts as a way to fulfill the biblical mandate to rest, allowing for physical and spiritual refreshment.
*Cultural Engagement & Mission: Travelers are encouraged to engage with other cultures as ambassadors of Christ, fulfilling the "Great Commission" to make disciples of all nations.
*Divine Protection: God is present everywhere, and Scripture promises protection to those who travel, assuring that He guards them in all their ways.
*Sojourner Mindset: The Bible emphasizes that believers are strangers on earth, with their true home in heaven, encouraging a perspective that doesn't become too attached to one place.
Key Scriptures for Travelers:
Psalm 139:9-10: Reassures that God is present even on the "far side of the sea".
Proverbs 16:9: "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps".
Mark 16:15: "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation".
Psalm 119:19: "I am a sojourner on the earth; hide not your commandments from me!".
