Landlocked -
The cultural concept:
The `Landlocked` collection was inspired by the Czech and Slovak Surfing Championship and the landlocked but existing surf culture in these countries.
The championship caught my attention about four years ago and I have found it very inspiring and exciting that there are other landlocked countries besides Hungary where a yet small but very noticeable surfing community exists and fights for their passion.
The surfing championship is 8 years old but it attracts and moves a huge crowed every year. These people share a mutual love towards surfing and they all fight hard to have the opportunity to be on the water surrounded by waves or just to feel as a surfer every day.
As a Hungarian surfer I thought our mutual feelings towards that sport and the fact that we share the faith of the landlocked countries connects us. This connection can be a great inspiration to create a new surfing street wear capsule.
The sustainable angle:
As a surfer I find it very important to preserve the beauty of our oceans and cause the less damage on nature.
I believed it would be a clever idea to translate this awareness into the capsule and create a sustainable surf collection.
For help I called the Hungarian wave surf community and asked them to donate their ruined wetsuits which are not useable anymore, but still has some good parts and materials.
