Student Demonstration - Friday, June 12, 2026.

Students from various universities in Jakarta intended to voice the public's grievances through a demonstration regarding the economic and social conditions at the HI Roundabout, but they were blocked by security forces right in front of my office.
•
I stayed at the office until the evening to observe the demonstration and also chatted with several security personnel from the TNI (military) and the police; they also agreed with the students that we are currently experiencing unfavorable economic conditions.
•
Hopefully, the leaders of this country will listen to the aspirations of their people and revive optimism for all of us. Appreciation also goes to the students, the general public, and the security forces who kept the demonstration peaceful.
