Melasti is a Hindu Balinese purification ceremony and ritual to cleanse the body, mind, and soul which is held several days prior to Nyepi, 'The Silence Day, the new year of the Saka calendar.
The ceremony usually takes place near the coast or river, as the water is believed to have the power to purify and cleanse. The ceremony involves the procession of people dressed in traditional Balinese attire, carrying various offerings and sacred objects. The offerings include fruit, flowers, rice, and other symbolic objects.

'Ngidih' (lit. translated 'ask permission to take') is one stage of wedding ceremony of traditional marriage in Bali. The procession of proposing is carried out by the family of the future groom who come to the house of the future bride. Beginning with the introduction of both parties, the welcome speech of the elders and then the couple declared themselves to love each other. The discussion continued with the details of the procession of the wedding that will be held later. The local goverment officials will be in the occasion as witnesses and give letters to sign by both parties. The event ends with giving advice from the elders.
