Courthouse Gallery & Studios summer exhibition kicked off last night in a gorgeous part of Ireland in Ennistymon, Clare. Swipe to see photos of the event and "Inside Is A Woman".

The work very broadly considers female identity and lived embodiment. You can read more about it and the exhibition in latest news - link in bio.

The exhibition runs from 19th June to 12 August and is well worth a visit.

I wasn't able to make it to the opening of the Summer Show at last night, but I did engineer an opportunity to get a version of the classic "artist posing with artwork on wall" photo at home before "Portrait in Yellow" left for Birmingham. I hope you like it 😏💛

Judging from photographs of the galleries at RBSA, it looks to be a beautifully hung exhibition across all three floors. So well done to everyone involved, and especially thanks to the lovely Daisy, who has been coordinating everything with us artists in the background.

“Portrait in Yellow” is in Birmingham for Royal Birmingham Society of Artists' Summer Show.

Challenging conventional ideas of portrait photography, the work asks what truly defines identity. Using body language, colour and rhythm to evoke a sense of the individual, it aligns with the “faceless” portraits in contemporary figurative art.

The irony doesn’t escape me: that she is being posted on social media, a platform that is becoming so intertwined in our sense of self that the virtual identity is taking over. The selfie, with its repetitive gestures, forms, framing and filters is homogenising our individuality, creating shallow, static reductions of identity.

Even though she is a self-portrait, "Portrait In Yellow" is a liminal body in movement, intended to evade definition and capture.

A great opening night last night for 2026 at One Charlemont Square in Dublin. Spread across two expertly curated floors, the exhibition drops a pin on Irish contemporary art, delivering fearless work that embraces experimentation, emotion, and individuality. From emerging voices to established names, Art Riddler continues to champion artists willing to push boundaries and resist convention.

One of the aspects I liked most was that — unusually for an open exhibition — the walls weren’t crammed to the gills with art, instead allowing the works to breathe and be experienced individually. People paused and really immersed themselves in each piece.

Well worth a visit if you’re in Dublin this weekend. If you’re not, you can read the latest blog on my website. Link in bio.

"Blue Heat" - delivered to One Charlemont Square for Art Riddler 2026. This is developing into an exciting showcase of contemporary, edgy art - bold and unafraid. Kudos to the mysterious curator/benefactor

With an alluring air of mystery, both the masked benefactor and the lineup of artworks on sale are generating a high level of interest in the media and among collectors.

Looking forward to the opening on Thursday 6pm. The exhibition runs from 28th May to 31st May.
