Cockhill bridge is an integral element of the built heritage and transport heritage of Buncrana in Inishowen, County Donegal. Built between 1780 and 1820 it has stood against tremendously powerful floodwaters in living memory and beyond. It is a testament to skilled construction methods of the past as is Saint Mary's Church behind. fans Buncrana Tidy Towns Initiative Visit Buncrana, County Donegal Buncrana Parish

Northburgh castle in Greencastle, Inishowen, County Donegal. Nestled on the shores of Lough Foyle, the majestic remnants of this Norman fortress was built in 1305 by Richard Óg de Burgh known as the red earl of Ulster. Today it is guarded by an inquisitive herd of goats 🐐😀.

The Milky Way rising above an old lookout post at Malin Head in Inishowen, County Donegal. If you've ever visited Malin Head, I'll bet you've stepped into this very building. On a warm day the view is framed wonderfully by the windowless frames. On a stormy day they are of wonderful shelter against the powerful elements that sweep across Ballyhillion / Banbas Crown, at the most northerly point on the Wild Atlantic Way. fans Wild Atlantic Way Discover Ireland

A lone shooting star between the Milky Way and a hint of the northern lights from Urris in Clonmany on the Inishowen Peninsula in County Donegal. In the distance the light of Fanad lighthouse shines bright. As autumnal dark skies deepen, when clear, our most northern part of the Wild Atlantic Way never fails to delight the senses with heavenly illuminations 😃

The Mill river walk in Buncrana, Inishowen, County Donegal. A hidden wee gem that takes you past Swan's mill and reminds us of the industrius past of the town. If you're lucky you will spot a Kingfisher or two flying by and lots of fish jumping merrily to catch a tasty insect for their lunch. The proper name for the river is the Owenkillew and its water flow gently down to Lough Swilly under the old viaduct and the Iron bridge. fans The Mill River Conservation Group Wild Inishowen Club Buncrana Tidy Towns Initiative Visit Buncrana, County Donegal
