The new €38M, 90-bed Community Nursing Unit on Ballynamony/Leitrim Road is set to be completed in early 2027.
The state-of-the-art facility will replace St. Patrick's Community Hospital and feature long-stay, short-stay, dementia care wards, and a rehabilitation facility designed around a household model.
The project marks a major milestone for local healthcare:
Location: Leitrim Road / Ballynamony Road, Carrick-on-Shannon.
Completion Date: Early 2027.
Capacity & Layout: 90 beds split into "households" to mirror the comforts of home, including 25-bed long-stay and 20-bed short-stay wards.
Facilities: Features designated dementia wards and rehabilitation services, though there will be no on-site X-ray unit.
The facility is being built by Boyle Construction and Rhatigan Architects to meet HIQA compliance.
