Doonbeg

This was the very first large Railway Staff I got in 1984. (Doonbeb - kilmurry) It was the late Eamon Lacken who got it from Joe Murphy in Inchicore. Joe found it at the works. We all did not know what section of Railway it was from
now Doonbeg is now known all over the world to day., with the Hotel and the vist of Donald Trump this eeek end.
Doonbeg - Kilmurry is from the famous West Clare Railway line closed in 1961. The key on this staff was for ground frame for the intermediate Station Cragnock The official last train never ran, the company cancelled it at the time.

This is a photo I took of Tom Burke Castlerea. Tom was born this day5th September 1926 in Dromcolliher Co. Limerick, this would be his 100th Birthday. Tom told me that he was instrumental in saving the Local mid wife from attending the local cinema on the night it went on fire this night one hundredth years.
Instead she was delivering Tom, he was a publican like myself and both his wife Bridie ran the Half Way House, on Main Street Castlerea, May they both RIP
(This is what I did on Paddys day, got a barrel of larger add green food colouring, and they came from miles around to see and drink the green beer, those were the days)

God be with the days when postcards were very popular, i remember it was part of the tradition when you went on holidays, the practice was to send postcards home.
I have sixty ofd cards that were kept by Mixy Farrell Roscommon and kindly given to me by by Pat Hughes and go back to a time after the war. They are rare and refer to different parts of the country most are in black and white.
