One of my favourite photographs are rarely the perfectly posed ones.

They're the ones that happen in between.

When someone gets distracted.

When they stop wondering what to do with their hands.

When they forget about the camera for a second.

When they simply exist.

As photographers, we spend so much time talking about posing, lighting and technique.

But sometimes the real magic happens when all of that fades into the background.

When a photograph stops being about how someone looks...

and starts being about who they are.

Those are usually the images people come back to years later.

Not because they were perfect.

But because they felt real.

A thought I've been having recently...

As photographers, we often admire beautiful faces, perfect styling and effortless posing.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But I've always found myself drawn to something else.

The people with character.

The people with stories written on their faces.

The people who have never stood in front of a professional camera before.

Because great photography isn't just about capturing beauty.

It's about seeing something interesting, something authentic, something uniquely human.

Some of my favourite portraits over the years haven't been of professional models at all.

They've been artists, business owners, parents, makers, dreamers and ordinary people with extraordinary stories.

For me, photography has never been about finding the "perfect" subject.

It's about finding what makes each person worth photographing.

And every single person has something.

This remains one of my favourite portraits I've ever taken.

Not because it's perfect.

But because it's honest.

First date at Nando's. Wedding at The Greenhouse. Reception at The Kingsley. Isabel & Ryan - Cork brought you both here in 2001, and it took its sweet time introducing you, but what a story it's writing. 🤍

It was such a privilege to document this relaxed, joyful, family-filled day for you both. Congratulations!

So happy to share that this shoot with Stephanie Kelly made the cover of April’s RSVP Magazine.

It was such a lovely, relaxed shoot, and I absolutely loved the story behind it. Not just about work or TV, but about support, family and what a healthy relationship really looks like.

“Sometimes easy can sound boring, but it’s not – it’s just that we’re both so content… We both believe in each other.”

There’s something very real and grounding in that.

Ireland has this way of becoming part of you.
Not overnight. Not in big moments.

But slowly, through people, places and the everyday.

My exhibition “Kocham Cię jak Irlandię” (I Love You Like Ireland), now showing at Teatr Ziemi Rybnickiej in Poland, comes from that.

It’s a body of work created over the years I’ve lived in Ireland, documenting not just what this place looks like, but what it feels like to build a life here.

This wasn’t in my plans for 2026.

In January, Ewa Wojaczek reached out about the opportunity to exhibit in Rybnik - and made the whole thing happen. I’m very grateful for that.

Great to see the work presented in a completely different context and shared with a Polish audience.

Very excited to share that my exhibition ‘I Love You Like Ireland’ is opening on:

📅 18 March 2026, 17:30
📍 Galeria Sztuki, Teatr Ziemi Rybnickiej
🎟 Free entry
🗓 Exhibition runs until 3 May 2026

This project is a very personal, long-term body of work - a visual story of my relationship with Ireland, the country I’ve been living in for years and the place that became my second home.

It’s not a typical documentary or travel series. It’s about the everyday: landscapes, small towns, light, people, and all those quiet moments in between. About building a life somewhere new, about belonging, but also about that constant awareness of being slightly “in between” two places.

For me, it feels really important that this work is being shown in Poland. It’s like bringing a piece of Ireland into that space — not as a postcard, but as something lived, felt and experienced over time.
,
Huge thank you to Ewa Wojaczek and the team at Teatr Ziemi Rybnickiej for reaching out and making this happen.

I won’t be there in person, but if you’re nearby, I’d really love you to see it.

I’m delighted to be part of Portraits Part II at Kinsale Library, running from 11 February to 14 March 2026.

It’s a real honour to exhibit alongside such a talented group of artists. Thank you so much to Diane and Niamh for the photographs and for all the work behind the scenes - it’s always appreciated.

My piece, “In Her Own Light”, explores the quiet tension between vulnerability and strength. I’m drawn to those in-between moments where softness and power exist together - not staged, not performative, just present.

For me, presentation is never secondary. Every artwork is professionally printed and professionally framed. This piece is printed on fine art textured paper, which gives the image depth and a subtle tactile quality you can only truly experience standing in front of it. The physical print matters. The weight, the surface, the finish - it’s part of the work.

If you’re near Kinsale, do pop in and have a look. There’s something very special about seeing portrait work in a quiet library space.

Thrilled to share that I had the honour of photographing the cover for the latest RSVP magazine featuring Muireann O’Connell - one of Ireland’s most dynamic broadcasters and a personality whose career story is as inspiring as her presence on screen. 🙌

From her early days in radio to becoming a familiar face on Ireland AM, Muireann’s journey has never been a straight line - and that’s part of what makes it so compelling. Her openness about how life unfolded for her, professionally and personally, reminds us that success rarely looks like the plan we started with.

This cover shoot celebrates not just a brilliant broadcaster but also the power of authenticity and the beauty of embracing the unexpected.

Huge thanks to the incredible team who brought this shoot together:

Makeup: Michelle Field
Styling: Chloe Markham
