The final step in bringing these awards to life.

This video shows the cutting of the Atlantic-inspired blue glitter waves, cleaning and weeding the acrylic face, and assembling the finished awards for the Sligo Local Enterprise Office and Sligo County Council Student Enterprise Programme 2026.

The lighthouse represents guidance and support, while the waves reflect the energy, creativity and momentum of young entrepreneurs across the region.

It’s always a privilege to create awards that celebrate the innovation and enterprise of students in Sligo.

Steps 2 to 4 in the making of the Student Enterprise Awards.

After preparing the acrylic face, the next stage is cutting and engraving the Sapele timber layer that will form the base of the awards for the Sligo County Council Local Enterprise Office Sligo Student Enterprise Awards.

Sapele is a beautiful hardwood with a rich grain that adds warmth and contrast to the design.

Each award is built in layers, combining timber and acrylic elements to create depth and texture.

Next step… laser cutting the glittering Atlantic-inspired wave layers 🌊✨

STEP 1 in bringing the Student Enterprise Awards to life.

This video shows the cutting and engraving of the black/white acrylic face for the Local Enterprise Office Sligo and Sligo County Council Student Enterprise Programme 2026 awards.

The lighthouse in the design represents Sligo’s coastline, but it also symbolises guidance and direction, reflecting the support and mentorship that helps young entrepreneurs develop their ideas and find their path.

I was delighted to create the STEMtacular 2026 Sustainability Award for Leitrim County Council and Local Enterprise Office Leitrim, held in Ballinamore today, which my own wee man Conor is attending 🥰.

This award celebrates innovation, creativity and the young minds working towards a more sustainable future 🌱

It symbolizes innovation driving sustainable growth — with a brushed metal light bulb representing bright ideas and STEM thinking, and a rising arrow reflecting progress and forward momentum.

Inside the arrow is an image of Lough Allen, grounding the piece in Leitrim and connecting global sustainability with local action.

Proud to design and craft this locally here in Leitrim.

Well done to all the students who took part 👏
