This Chinese fishing trawler ran aground during a early winter storm. Day after day local tugs tried to pull it off the beach, snapping tow cables like string, without the vessel budging. All the time a sand bank started forming off it, and surfers kept a beedy eye and secretly cheered when each attempt failed. Finally the biggest tug in South Africa was called to do the job. This was one of the last waves that peeled off as it was pulled out to sea.

Toutes nos félicitations à Vahine Fierro 🇫🇷 qui s'est hissée ce lundi en finale du Volkswagen SA Open Of Surfing pres by Hurley (WSL Qualifying Series 3.000), à Po***ck Beach en Afrique du Sud. La surfeuse de Huahine s'est inclinée de peu (9,43 à 8,60) face à Chelsea Tuach (Barbade).
Bravo également à Pauline Ado 🇫🇷 ! Laquelle signe une très belle 5e place après ses victoires sur les QS 1000 et 1500 à Caparica et Zarautz. Dans un quart de finale 100% tricolore, «Popo» s'est faite sortir par Fierro (11,27 ) 10,60).
Au classement général, Fierro gagne 8 places pour occuper le 2e rang derrière l'Australienne Isabella Nichols. Absente en AfSud, Cannelle Bulard glisse à la 8e place. Ado est désormais 16e.
