The first stop on our Donegal trip was the beautiful Fanad Lighthouse on the northern coast.
It was wet and windy when we were setting up the tent on Friday evening. We barely managed to cook a meal and I had already written off sunset a possibility...I was starting to worry that we had set ourselves up for 4 days of misery if it continued. Come 4:30am the following day the wind had calmed and the rain dissipated. There wasn't much colour in the sky as you can see, but the sense of peace and stillness that morning more than made up for the night before. I can easily see why it was voted one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world.
