Two years and 2,893 screen grabs later college is finally over for me. It's an odd feeling today not having to worry about any essays to start (or finish) no diaries to fill in and no mind numbingly booooring 33 page business plans (although necessary) to write out.
Right now I'm trying to decide what to do with all these note pads and bits of paper I've had attached to me over the last couple of years. Should I have a ritual burning at the weekend and release all the mad scribblings into the ether or keep them for a nostalgic look back in a few years time?
Whatever I decide it won't disguise the emptiness I'm left with knowing that I won't see all the people that I've met over the last few years as regularly as I would like too and possibly won't see some of you ever again although I find that hard to believe. I know one thing is for sure, I've made friends for life with the people studied with. Even if we don't see each for long periods of time, through the magic of this book they call Face we will always be close enough for a chat.
You guys have inspired and pushed me to become a better photographer today then I could have imagined and you continue to do this and will continue for ever to inspire me. For that I want to say thanks!
As for the tutors, what can I say. Tucked away on the outskirts of Crumlin is this hidden gem of a college called St. Kevins. I did not expect to find the level of care, knowledge, interaction, approachability and just plain enthusiasm they all offer to each and every student they see. It's no wonder that DIT are so eager to have us after we leave. All the hard work has been done!
You know what, I'm gonna keep my scribbles and look back with immense fondness at the time in my life. Thank you to St. Kevins and the tutors for your knowledge and understanding and thanks to all my friends there whom shall always be with me (not literally as that would just creep me out), I look forward to the next pint and our next endeavour over in Farmleigh in June.
So long you Nerds!!
