The National Children's Hospital is a beautiful structure.

After years of intensive work by BAM the building is starting to become a wonderful sight. The Cranes are gone, the scaffolding has gone from most of the project and the architects vision is emerging.

It has been hard for the general public to appreciate the complexity of the hospital. From the powerplants in the subbasement to the ancillary equipment at roof level, the level of detail is amazing.

I have been privileged on many occasions to photograph the project over the past few years as it emerges. Each visit saw a new phase in development.

Now at last the wonderful vision is becoming apparent. As the various suppliers install their technical equipment, it was great to see all of the teams hard at work like busy bees in harmony.

Its great to think that our children and their children's children will benefit from this work.

A couple stroll by the waters edge
Oblivious to the troubled world

Earlier this year we had the idea of having a wildflower media at the end of our garden. Prior to that we put aside on third of our land for wilderness.

Now day by day we get a trill when we see the wild flowers emerge.

Sky delight.

We live in a little village of Menlo on the outskirts of Galway. We live on an elevated site facing west and overlooking LOUGH Corrib.

During the winter we get the full blast of the Atlantic storms. But when you get a sunset like this as we often do , the beauty can be breathtaking.

Looking out towards west over the Corrib we see out into the valleys of Connemara. The twelve bens dominate the skyline and lead the eye out into the infinity of the Atlantic.

We are privileged to live where we do with our wonderful neighbours and a vista to die for.

It was one of those days that will always represent Summertime for my family.

Years ago we had hope for a Menlo Water centre on LOUGH Corrib near the old quarries. We built a pier to provide access to the lake for local families. How ever the pier caused silting up and defeated the purpose. Now that the Japanese knot w**d seems to have been made under control , perhaps a few of us could work on the area and have it revived for next summer.

I was delighted to see my family who are on holiday here from Dubai use the kayak that my daughter brought from her home in the Uk and had great fun on the water in the area.

These are the days we will remember.

Today we brought our grand kids to Wildlands. in MOYCULLEN.

I was very impressed by the safety setup and the opportunity the kids had to be courageous and brave .

Noah our four year old grandson showed how brave he was .

With rain clouds rolling in from the Atlantic is hard to believe it’s summer.

This afternoon we brought grandkids to the beach at Lettergesh . The waves were full of menace . The kids were using their bodyboards and having fun.

Killary harbour looked dramatic and picturesque.

Entertainment for all. While walking down Quay Street today I was pleased to see this trad group playing irish music to entertain our visitors.

Menlo graveyard annual mass tonight.

In our community of Menlo, the annual mass in our cemetery is a wonderful event.

This year it was marred by heavy rain.

Some of my most enjoyable moments have been spent here. When I was a young photographer and long before I moved to tbe community I used to come out to the graveyard when the work in my dark room laboratory became oppressive.

Later when I lived in the village I spent many nights here with fellow volunteers cutting the grass and helping with putting in the paths .

Some wonderful people I knew are now resting in this Place of peace.

The graveyard is a credit to the younger generation who have put so much work into tbe beloved maintenance of the place. Thank you, you have done a wonderful job.

What a lovely day. I brought some of my grandkids out for a sail today. The sea was like glass and the sun shone brightly. It was one of those days that will live on in my heart.

My daughter and her husband came also. My sailing mate Donal Honan crewed with me and was an invaluable help.
