I’m sorry I’ve been quiet these past few weeks. Grief has a way of pressing pause on everything.
You may have noticed the night sky seems a little brighter since Beltane—perhaps that’s because a new star has been born, shining just a bit more brilliantly now. On May 1st, we said goodbye to our brave, beautiful boy—my best friend, my shadow, my heart. My Ozzie.
Ozzie came into this world not under gentle hands, but rough and uncertain ones. Found as a frightened one-year-old stray, he was destined for a grim fate. But fate had other plans.
From the moment we met, I knew he was special. His journey from a fearful pup to a confident, joyful soul mirrored my own path toward healing. Together, we navigated a world that was sometimes tough on us. Ozzie taught me about patience, about the beauty in small victories, and about unconditional trust. His resilience was a quiet roar that inspired me daily.
Ozzie was never broken—his soul refused it. He was a fighter, a survivor, and most of all, a companion who lived and loved with a full heart. His spirit was fierce and warm, like a small lantern carried bravely through the dark. Over time, that glow grew stronger. It lit up our lives.
He made me laugh daily, challenged me often, and taught me to look at the world with more softness. He was there through milestones, heartbreaks, long drives, short walks, adventures, and the quiet, perfect ordinary days.
As I’ve been reflecting on our time together, I am filled with gratitude for every moment. Ozzie wasn't just a dog; he was family. His legacy lives on in the stories we shared, the lessons he taught me, and the love he gave unconditionally right up until the very end.
He is the motivation behind Pawtrait Ireland—the muse, the heartbeat, the reason I picked up my camera and chased tails in order to celebrate tales, just like his.
Ozzie inspired friendships, adventures, and a whole community of dog lovers I now hold dear. His legacy lives in every photo, every wag, every click of a shutter that celebrates the bond between humans and their best friends.
Though my arms are achingly empty, my heart remains so very full.
Thank you, Ozzie—for every laugh, every nuzzle, and every shared silence. Thank you for the memories, the life-long friendships I've made, and for inspiring an entire business born from my passion for dogs.
My dearest and sweetest boy, you are so deeply missed and eternally loved.
So in honour of Ozzie—enjoy the fur on your clothes, forgive the farts, and get outside. Make memories. Take the photo. Squeeze them just a little tighter today, so they make that tiny “oof” sound.
💛
