The 190th RHA Annual Exhibition is now on at their Gallery in Dublin. This year, because of the Pandemic, the entire exhibition is only available for viewing online. My work in the exhibition can be viewed at https://rhagallery.viewingrooms.com/viewing-room/2-royal-hibernian-academy/ scroll down to Categories then Drawing and mine should be the second one you'll see. The title is 'Beech Tree with Grey Squirrel and Supermarket Trolley'. The RHA website displays the full drawing only. For unexplained technical reasons it is not possible to zoom into some exhibits including mine so I'm posting close ups of the drawing so you can see the details that are not visible on the Gallery website.
It's a large drawing in the light and medium tones that are characteristic of the grade of pencil used, which is HB. The tree, which I've drawn with detailed accuracy, is growing in Carton Estate, Maynooth, Co. Kildare and is just a short distance from Carton House and the Kildare Gallery. The other elements in the drawing are there for compositional reasons. The Gate, Haw-Haw, Buildings etc are all in the vicinity of the tree but not quite as I've drawn them. For example, the Shopping Trolley is, in reality, under a different tree just outside the walls of Carton Estate. I would describe the drawing as the observations of a walk recollected in pencil.
