Thanks Stephen in Ktec Telescopes for annotating your excellent image of the Leo Triplet earlier, It prompted me to have a look at my version and sure enough i managed to grab 3 of the 4 ga;axies that are about ! billion light years away. Also they shine at 18th magnitude which is 160,000 times fainter than the faintest star visible with the naked eye.

More time added to the Leo Triplet. Stack of 120x3minute images for a total image time of 6 hours. My longest project yet. Still not totally happy with the final result though.

I had another shot at the Leo Trio. Wasn't too happy with the previous effort. I think this result is much better.

Stack of 60x180second images@ ISO 800. Total time 3hours.

The great Leo Triplet of galaxies.
Just 23x180 second images caught a few nights ago with heavy moonlight. There is also some faint smaller galaxies in the background that i might be able bring out more if I get more time on this target.

I had to have another go at the Whirlpool images captured over the last few weeks. I added another hour of data on Friday and deleted some images that had some tracking and focusing errors and, high cloud.

Canon 600d Modified, Astronomik CLS CDD clip in filter
