I'm delighted that my photographs of Grangegorman and St. Brendan's hospital have been shared online and are available now for the public to view and use under a creative commons license.
It has been a pleasure working with the GDA Grangegorman Development Agency and The Royal Irish Academy and my fellow awardees.

I had a brilliant couple of days working with participants on the Roscommon County Youth Theatre summer camp where they learned photography skills, making photograms, still life photography and pinhole photography.
Thanks to Catherine Sheridan and Roscommon Arts Centre and the arts office team for supporting us.

Students from St Corban's BNS created fantastic works during their BLAST residency with Creative Practitioner Brian Cregan.

During their residency, students engaged in a series of workshops such as photography, design and crafting, animation and stop motion whilst developing links to their local environment, heritage and public art.

Reclaiming the Workhouse

An exhibition of a digital archive of photographs of Athy Workhouse by Brian Cregan with an introduction to the Poor Law Union archives of County Kildare by Karel Kiely, archivist, will take place on 6 December at 11.00 am at Kildare County Archives and Local Studies, Harbour View, Naas.

This is the culmination of two Creative Ireland funded projects in 2023 and 2024 which involved artist photographer Brian Cregan working with local communities to explore and reflect on the heritage and history of the workhouse in Athy through a series of creative workshops as well creating a digital archive of photographs.

The project has enhanced wellbeing through creative participation from the local community. A key element of the project was a series of photography workshops at Athy Library, with Athy Photographic Society and with a local national school Scoil Phádraig Naofa where participants and pupils learnt about composition, exposure, lighting and editing techniques.
