In 1979, MG produced the final version of the MGB, including a Limited Edition model, and also discontinued the MG Midget. The MGB's production ended in 1980, marking the end of an era for the classic sports car. The final MG Midgets were made in November 1979.

The MG Midget, a small two-seater sports car, was produced from 1961 to 1979.
The last version, the Midget 1500, was launched in 1974 with a 1500cc engine from the Triumph Spitfire and a gearbox from the Morris Marina.
Black energy-absorbing bumpers were added, and the car featured a return to the squarer rear wheel arch.
