Not my usual hiking companion..

Three weeks into moving base to Vancouver and I’ve had my first encounter with a black bear.

This male black bear followed along the trail calmly and quietly until deciding to take a turn off the main trail.

Despite the initial adrenaline rush from being face to face with a black bear, this was a calm interaction.
Hopefully the first of many calm bear encounters.

Whale tale..

My first time getting up close to humpback whales in over a year and the excitement doesn’t change.

I’ve been in Vancouver BC for a week and I’m already being mind-blown at the wildlife and vastness of nature here.

A little farewell..

I’ve been keeping it close to my chest for a while but I’ve decided to move abroad for a while.

I thought I’d put this up both as a huge thank you to my Irish friends and followers and also incase anyone didn’t realise why there might be a gap in Irish wildlife posts for a while.

I will still be continuing my wildlife photography and filming, it just won’t be in Ireland for a while.
I still have a lot of photos and footage from Ireland to post in the coming months but it will probably be mixed with other wildlife from where I’ve moved too, which you’ll see very soon.

Thank you to each and every one of you for helping me turn this photography journey from a simple hobby or pastime into something I couldn’t
Have imagined.

Ireland will always be my home but for now I’d like to see more of the world, and more of its incredible wild inhabitants.

Starting the summer off in slow motion 🌊 🦈 🦌 🦀

A busy few weeks of shooting underwater and topside with just a few of my favourite clips to show off.

In recent years I’ve tried my hand at several disciplines of wildlife photography and filming, but the thing I lacked was the ability to portray these amazing creatures in slow motion.
That has now changed ..

Not even halfway through the year and I’m bursting at the seams with excitement!

30 seconds of brown trout in the current

Filming brown trout in a stream is quickly becoming one of my most relaxing forms of wildlife photography.
These juvenile brown trout were swimming in a pool just below a small waterfall.
After maybe a minute they were completely settled and allowed me to stay quite close to film them.

Watching their spot pattern with the shimmering light rays on them is mesmerising.

Basking shark cruising through the swash..

With the plankton blooming at the moment, basking sharks are still feeding even without the sun beaming down on them.
This mesmerising individual was feeding in and around and under surface foam.

Arguably the most scenic view from any window in Ireland..

The road to Keem Beach on Achill island.
Worth the steep 20 minute hike to the lookout.
