I love nothing better than to turn up on your wedding day and almost blend in and document your day with beautiful portraits, special moments and all the little details you’ve spent months on getting together. You have a one of a kind personality and I want to create pictures from your wedding day that show your sense of style. My focus is on creating pictures that represent your relationships wit

h your loved ones. And to do that I like to create a story of your wedding day mixed in with some beautiful portraits.

A quick look from the brides dad just before they walk up the aisle. A quick look, captured forever, and thats what capturing moments is all about. Its what I spend a lot of the wedding day looking for, trying to anticipate & capture.

One last round with the guys before the ceremony.
Real wedding moments or documentary wedding photography cant be posed, cant be faked…you just need to observe & press the shutter at the right moment!

One of the parts of a wedding it’s always a privilege to see & photograph is when the bride is dressed & you get to do a few quick bridal portraits. At this stage only a few people have seen her, all fully ready, no more trials!
A quick portrait from a recent Glasson Lakehouse wedding. Sometimes the second photographer gets the cool angles that you can’t always take advantage of being the main photographer.

Back to it, kinda! Just before Christmas I jumped back into the wedding photography world helping out Andrew Kilfeather with a gorgeous wedding Glasson Lakehouse
I haven’t second shot a wedding since 2006 so it was cool to be able to shoot from the sidelines so to speak with zero pressure.
Of course I put myself under a little pressure using brand new cameras but also looking for the odd shot I could get while Andrew was tied up elsewhere. This is one such shot.
Stay tuned for more sneak peeks!

I shot my last wedding of 2024 just over a year ago, a beautiful wedding to finish. Then it was break time after 600 of them, and 18 years as a wedding photographer. I needed to recharge. There was a lot going on.

I decided to comeback to the industry a couple of months ago. And now for the first time since 2006, I’ll be jumping back in as a second shooter photographer this coming weekend, and I plan to do a bunch more in 2026 before I start shooting on my own again in the middle of the year. Something as I said I haven’t done since I decided to see what wedding photography was like back in 2006 while I was still shooting Formula 1! This time, it’s simply to get my eye back & shoot with zero pressure!

I was told by an amazing celebrity wedding photographer back in 2007, that him being essentially the second shooter was the best thing he ever did as it let the creativity flow without being constrained by the pressure of setting up & chasing group photos etc. While I definitely don’t mind solo shooting & after 600 weddings, I’m pretty good at it, I’m relishing the opportunity again to second shoot, but instead of learning about weddings this time, I’m just going to shoot as I want, with nothing holding me back creatively. Bring on the weekend!!

Short peek at one of the nicest weddings I shot a couple of seasons back. When the engagement shoot starts with a plane flying overhead, yeah the wedding will be great & it was! 🥂

I had to start somewhere! I didn't just rock up & start shooting weddings & then get to 600 weddings. I didn't just arrive right into Formula 1 before that!

Although not the very start, this shot from 23 years ago today, is not far off!
Fresh faced 22 year old me attending my first winter F1 test at Barcelona exactly 23 years ago today! It wasn’t my first F1 test in Barcelona as I was accredited myself in January that year. But this was my first test since joining Sutton Images later that year! I was very much still learning & figuring things out!!! Using big lenses was still a novelty too 😎

Booking a wedding photographer is easy right? Yes & no!!
Have a read though some of my thoughts, whether your booking me or somebody else...

DO – Look for consistency in images from different weddings. A photographers style is the way they capture images, not how they edit their images. Consistency should mean if your wedding was shot 10 years ago, most of that wedding will still look fresh and up to date.

DON'T – Book based on trendy ways the images are edited. Ask yourself how those super light or super dark images will look a few years from now. Remember those old fashioned sepia images or those black & white images with a splash of colour – how do they look now!

DO - See a full start to finish wedding gallery. We photographers all show our best work on our websites. When booking you want to see family pictures, group pictures, the essential super important pictures, but not necessarily the most gallery worthy for photographers. Ask to see it all!
