Dublin Wedding Photography Mike & Jill O'Dwyer are Wedding Photographers working throughout Dublin and the surrounding counties

Our photography studio in based between Swords and Ashbourne in North County Dublin, just 5 minutes from Dublin Airport. We like natural unposed photographs for the most part, where the Bride and Groom just do their thing and we document their day. Of course, we'll offer suggestions and help out whenever we can. We've done hundreds of weddings and really like to make sure our clients are as relaxe

d as possible. We go by what our clients want us to capture from their day. We meet up with all clients well in advance of their wedding day, usually at their venue, and walk through the day with them so we can find out what's important to them. We do shoot the more formal family group shots too, but we like to keep those to a minimum so that everyone can get on with enjoying the party. Weddings are terrific fun, and capturing the celebrations of the day really is a privilege we thoroughly enjoy.

First wedding of the year shot on Saturday & Sunday last weekend. Somehow we managed to escape the rain with E&P on Sunday and get out to Merrion Square for 20 minutes of outdoorsy blue skies! Blessed, so we were. Just a couple of quick edits to show the guys that we sorta know what we're doing. I nearly always send sneak peeks in black and white rather than colour because that's how I learned photography, shooting and developing BW film and spending hours in the darkroom.

First time working with Andrew, the videographer, and a lovelier guy you couldn't hope to meet.

The church is St Michan's on Halston Street (Dublin oldest parish). Never shot there before, so it was a bonus to find such a fab staircase.
Can't recommend The Merrion highly enough as a venue, they always look after everyone so well.

One of the most popular Dublin Wedding Venues for good reason, is a dream location for couples looking for a blend of history and elegance in the heart of the city. Its neoclassical architecture, characterized by soaring columns and a magnificent rotunda, is a fabulous backdrop for small and large ceremonies. With loads of natural light from above and the large windows it always looks good no matter the weather. Located centrally, it’s perfect for those wanting iconic Dublin landmarks in their wedding photos. The venue’s acoustics are superb, perfect for classical music accompaniment and singers. Love the staff here, they're all so kind and helpful and know the best places for photos - will even help organise people when it's a large crowd.

If you're looking for a restaurant wedding venue in Dublin is a charming and intimate location near the banks of the River Liffey in Dublin. The Collins Room, with its brick walls and cozy fireplace, provides a romantic atmosphere for civil ceremonies. The Phoenix Room can accommodate up to 140 guests for the reception. All that and the Phoenix Park is just a couple of minutes drive around the corner, and then it's a lovely walk with plenty of opportunities to set up wedding portraits with the couple and their bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Things we like at photographing at the Anglers Rest: Rustic charm and great food / Cozy Collins Room for ceremonies / Close to the Phoenix Park / Very Relaxed Vibe.

If you're looking for a wedding venue in Wicklow, has plenty to offer. Tucked away in the Wicklow countryside, it’s surrounded by mature woodland, wildflower meadows, and a babbling stream that runs right past the ceremony chapel. The Macreddin Chapel is a gorgeous spot for an intimate ceremony — timber-beamed, candlelit, and just steps from where you’ll later toast with guests.

From our point of view, it’s a dream wedding venue - I love any venue with mature trees in a woodland setting. The stone bridge by the water is perfect for that classic just-married shot, and couples often steal away for a few portraits in the organic orchard just before dinner — quiet, natural, no fuss, and everything is close enough to where the guests will be that we're never far from the celebrations.

The fact that the whole place feels like its own self-contained hamlet means there’s little to no interruption from the outside world. Guests tend to relax more, wander between the buildings, and really settle in — which makes for brilliant candid photos throughout the day.

Love Tinakilly Country House Hotel & Gardens as a wedding venue - the steps down to the lawn, the woods, and the fab Pavilion give us everything we need to create some memorable wedding portraits.

Nestled along the Wicklow coastline, Tinakilly Country House is a Victorian-era gem that exudes timeless elegance and charm on 14 acres of landscaped gardens overlooking the Irish Sea. It’s a dream wedding venue close to Dublin for couples looking for a great location in Wicklow - perhaps the prettiest county on the east coast. The house itself has some lovely reception rooms for guests to mingle in, and the pavilion itself, set in the woods, can host 300 comfortably.

Everybody has nothing but good things to say about the personalized service, and from our point of view we've always found them extremely helpful.

Best Bits: Meticulously landscaped gardens and woods for photos; The staff who make everyone feel at ease; The spacious pavilion and reception rooms.

Favourite wedding venues in Dublin and the surrounding counties.

Thought we'd kick this off with two places close to home - we love shooting weddings at Swords Castle (Fingal County Council) & Kettles Country House Hotel. The castle offers a unique and historic setting for couples seeking an intimate and memorable wedding venue. This 13th-century castle features a charming chapel with stained glass windows, perfect for civil ceremonies. The castle’s courtyard and stone walls, surrounded by a lovely park, provide a romantic backdrop for photos. Its affordability and distinctive character make it a hidden gem for those desiring a medieval ambiance without leaving Dublin.

Things we like about Swords Castle as a wedding venue:
Historic 13th-century castle with unique charm within a park.
Intimate chapel with stained glass windows.
Picturesque courtyard for ceremonies and photos.
Affordable venue with rich history.
Convenient location in County Dublin.

A 5 minute drive then to Kettles, which has rooms suitable for smaller weddings like Eve & Roger had, or larger affairs in the Rose Anna Suite.

Love shooting weddings at Kettles Country House Hotel, we could practically walk there if we needed. Aside from that, it’s a great venue with a huge dining/ceremony/function room for large weddings, and a smaller dining room upstairs for smaller weddings. Colin and the rest of the staff are brilliant, they look after everyone so well, creating the kind of relaxed and easy going vibe which is just perfect for family and guests to enjoy themselves. That’s probably what appealed to Sue and Phil, two of the most laid back people we’ve ever worked with - and when you’re working with people like that it just makes you want to go that extra mile. Loved seeing their reactions when they came to view their wedding photos here at the studio, it’s the very best part of shooting weddings.
