In partnership with Kerry Archaeological and Historical Society, we invited local historian Alannah O'Sullivan to deliver a talk about the legacy of St Joseph's Industrial School & The Nazareth Tralee as part of Heritage Week 2023. Her excellent talk led to a powerful sharing of lived experiences by survivors of these institutions.

The black and white photograph held by Alannah was taken by Joan and Padraig Kenelly in April 1955 and shows boys from St Joseph's Industrial School Tralee. The photograph featured in a major exhibition at Kerry County Museum: "Kerry Lives: 1950-73. A portrait of the county from the Kennelly Archive".

The extremely well organised 2019 Tom Crean Unsung Hero Charity Cycle happened last Sat which saw the Tour de Munster's official charity partnership announcement with Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) at Ballyseede Home & Garden Centre, Tralee. The Tour de Munster happens on Aug 8th-11th. For more information see www.tourdemunster.com

Genuine, down to earth Alex & Stefan came from Chicago and knew exactly what they wanted for their wedding in Ireland. Fun, spontaneity, laid back with no rigid timetable, families from two different countries being relaxed enough to blend together, assisted by great music and some major high fiving garden games. It all happened at Westcove House, a place bursting with it's own character and staff that make you feel at home. Alex & Stefan's simple request was to include some animals, preferably sheep. That wish was granted by Eileen & Seanie at Gleninchaquin Park the very next day. I can't thank them enough for having an old 7Up bottle full of milk ready to feed Mathilda, the pet lamb!

What a fantastic evening at Pedal in the Park Killarney! Well done to all 283 participants!! Thanks to Cora Carrigg from the Kerry Recreation and Sports partnership for the stellar multitasking talents required to make it all run smoothly.

And many thanks to the volunteers and organisations who partnered to help make the event happen - Bike Week, Down Syndrome Kerry, KDYS, Kerry County Council, Kerry Recreation and Sports Partnership, Killarney Cycling Club, O'Sullivan Cycles and indeed the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle.

Experiencing sleep deprivation is far from ideal when dealing with a sick child in hospital. It's hard to keep their spirits up when you're struggling with your own lack of energy. As you may be aware, many of the hospitals in Ireland have no beds for parents to sleep in. The Tralee Chamber Alliance 2018 Calendar is raising funds for sofa beds to be provided in the children's ward of University Hospital Kerry so that parents can get some quality rest along with their child. 100% of the profits are being donated.
