Prelude.

I wait at the shore with my brother-in-law. My eyes are cast into the a small island across the lake, as I wait for my son's return.
The island is famous for an asylum. Yes! My son turned mad.
He was haunted by a trauma. A childhood prank, that left his immature mind unbalanced; the death of his best friend.
It was three years ago. The school was closed. It was summer vacation. My son and his friends were playing on the beach, when they decided to bury each other in the sand, with just their heads sticking out. They took turns to bury each other and where purely having fun.
But as the sun set and it was getting dark, the waves started getting immense and they didn't realize this. Suddenly, the waves went lightning fast. My son, along with his friends, ran away from the sea, but failed to get his best friend whom he just dug in. When the wave went back into the sea, all that was left there was sand. That's how my 10 year old son ended up in the island.
Now, three years later, the doctors at the hospital has given me back my son and I eagerly wait for his return and a new beginning.

"രണ്ടേ അമ്പത്!"
തലേന്ന് രാത്രിയിൽ ഭാര്യ പറഞ്ഞ പ്രാരാബ്ധക്കണക്കിലെ ഏതോ ഒരക്കമാണെന്നൊരു തോന്നലോടെ താണു പുലമ്പി. മെഷീൻ വെച്ച ബോട്ടുകളും, ചെറുവള്ളങ്ങളും പാഞ്ഞുപോയ കായലോരത്തിൻറെ ഓളങ്ങൾ, താണുവിന്റെ ചെറുവള്ളത്തെ വീണ്ടും കരയിലെ കല്ലുകളിൽ മുട്ടിച്ചു. ചില്ലറത്തുട്ടുകൾ ഇട്ട പെട്ടിയുടെ തകരയിൽ വീണ്ടും ശബ്ദമുണ്ടാക്കി താണു അക്കരപ്പച്ചക്കുപോണവരെ കാത്തിരുന്നു. വയറ്റത്തടിക്കുന്ന കച്ചവടങ്ങൾ ചുറ്റുപാടുമുണ്ടായിട്ടും തന്റെ വിശപ്പിന് ഒരിക്കലെങ്കിലും ശമനമുണ്ടാകുമെന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷയോടെ, ദൂരെയുള്ള ചെറിയ പാലത്തിനടിയിലൂടെ പോകുന്ന ഹൗസ് ബോട്ടിനെ യാത്രയയച്ച് താണു കാത്തിരുന്നു.

ENGLISH VERSION:

Waves

"How much?"
"Two fifty!"
A figure said by his wife, yesterday, during her regular chit chat over their expenses.
Motor boats, his competitors in the field, raced past him creating waves, which pushed his boat towards the shore, hitting the rocks. The metal box, in which he keeps his coins, clink-clanked, as he waited for the people travelling to the lush greenery. Although, there were business that bloomed better than Thanu's, he waited there, waving bye to the house boats, hoping he would get a piece of bread to fill the stomachs waiting home.
