Root stock selection for apple orchard.

Choosing the best apple rootstock depends on desired tree size, soil type, and disease resistance and water availability
Geneva (G) series is often preferred for disease resistance and
Malling (M/MM) for reliability and better option in water deficient areas.
Common choices include M9 for small, high-density spaces, and MM111 or M25 for larger, robust trees needing less support.
Best Rootstocks by Category:
Dwarf
M9 ( Best for early crop, profitable but needs support and better water availability)
Geneva 41 (G.41): Excellent, highly recommended with superior resistance to fire blight and woolly apple aphids.
Semi-Dwarf
MM106: Highly productive and efficient growth but highly vulnerable to root rot.
M7: Good choice for a wide range of soils.
MM111: Excellent, adaptable rootstock with good drought resistance, best option for sandy or poor soil.
M25: Ideal for very large, traditional "standard" orchards, very vigorous.

Apple fruit drop
Fruit drop in apple trees is a natural shedding process, occurring in various stages like the "June drop" (natural thinning process) and "pre-harvest drop" (because of ethylene effect),environmental stress etc causing significant loss in yield.
Few Varieties like Traditional Delicious, Golden, Gala etc are prone to fruit drop.
How to control.
Cultural Practices:
Proper Thinning: Manual or chemical thinning to reduce initial fruit load.
Adequate irrigation and optimum fertilizer dosage (Try avoiding Nitrogen)
Mulching: Helps with moisture retention and soil health.
Chemical Control (PGRs):
NAA (Naphthaleneacetic acid): Spray 20-25 days before harvest.

This fungus is called Shaggy bracket (Inonotus hispidus)
It is responsible for causing white rot in apple trees (especially older ones). Mostly appears in summer as a soft, rusty-brown bracket on older branches and secretes enzymes that decompose lignin and cellulose, causing white rot. Remove wherever you see these on plant parts and treat the plant with fungicides..
