Bandipur National Park, in Karnataka is known for its small population of tigers.

Once the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Mysore, the park also harbors Indian elephants, spotted deer, gaurs (bison), antelopes and numerous other native species.

Trek : Periyakulam -> Vellagavi -> Vattakanal

Vellagavi : A small beautiful and an interesting village with ~100 homes situated in forest between Kodai and Periyakulam in TN. There are no roads to the village and one has to trek to reach. As a tradition locals do not use footwear while inside the village but they do not mind if the tourists did.

There are no hotels in the village. People are very friendly and social and they host guest by charging some small fees for stay and food.There is electricity and water supply and people are educated and updated whats happening in the country ( They all knew Modi and were excited about new govt in center).
