​There is a specific kind of magic that happens when you mix artificial light with the natural ambient glow of the outdoors. It isn't just about brightening the subject; it’s about balancing the exposure so you can keep the detail in a bright sky while making sure the portrait remains the focus. It’s that seamless blend where the gear disappears and the mood takes over.

​To break the "standard" look, I opted for an unusual low angle. Shifting the perspective like this does more than just change the frame - it commands attention and lets the environment work with the subject rather than just sitting behind them.

​In fashion photography, the rules are there to be played with. Sometimes you have to look up to see the full narrative.

The "f/1.8 blur" is often used as a safety net to hide a messy background. But in professional fashion photography, the environment isn't a distraction—it’s the narrative.

​For this editorial portrait, we were faced with a visually dense workshop. The natural instinct is to open the aperture and melt the background. Instead, we chose to keep the frame sharp, preserving the textures of the loom and the history of the space.

​The secret? Intentional lighting design.

​By sculpting the subject with light and allowing the "clutter" to fall into deep shadow, we created separation without losing the context. This approach defines a high-fashion narrative where every element in the frame is there by choice, not by accident.

Lighting isn't just about visibility; it's about creative direction.

​Shooting on the coast sounds dreamy until you’re battling 15kmph winds and a sky that acts like one giant, flat softbox. When the natural light isn't on your side, you have to create your own narrative.

​For this frame, I leaned into artificial lighting to carve out those details and ensure the colors popped against the rugged grey of the Arabian Sea. It’s all about finding that balance between the raw chaos of the elements and the precision of a fashion portrait.
