The Wangala festival is also known as the 100 drums festival. 10 Garo clans (men and women) ,100 drummers and bamboo flutists come together to perform and compete.
You can feel the energy from the moment you enter the arena. They wear bright colourful attire, proud and interesting headgear.
In these pictures the clans are waiting for the Rugala, the pouring of rice beer & Cha.chat, incense burning to be performed, thereby commencing the festivities.

In Tripura, bamboo is utilised for Rural housing, walls, roof structures, food grain baskets, head gears, edible shoots for food, handicrafts and furniture and so much more !

N E E R Mahal ( water palace) is a former royal palace built by Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman of the erstwhile Kingdom of Tripura. It’s situated in the middle of Rudrasagar lake around 50 km from Agartala.
It’s a combination of Hindu and Muslim Architectural styles. There are only two water palace in India, another one is the Jal Mahal in Rajasthan.
Approached Neer Mahal just in time to catch the magnificent sunset that evening . The sky looked magical and the colours reflected on the bare white facades of the palace.

REANG Tribe
Also known as Brus in Mizoram are one of the 21 scheduled tribes of the state. They speak the Reang dialect of the Bru language which is of Tibeto-Burmese origin and is locally referred to as kau Bru.
Like the other tribal house holds in Tripura, the women like to weave their own Risa and Rinai which are part of their traditional dress. They also wear silver ornaments especially the neck piece made of silver coins.
During our trip we visited this little Reang village close to Unakoti. We had to trek for around 45 mins to get to the village from the nearest motor-able road. It was amazing to see what simple lives they lead. :)
