ബാംഗ്ലൂരിൽ നിന്ന് 439 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ, ബദാമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 21 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയുള്ള പട്ടടക്കൽ, കർണാടകയിലെ ബാഗൽകോട്ട് ജില്ലയിലെ പ്രശസ്തമായ പൈതൃക സ്ഥലമാണ് മലപ്രഭ നദിയുടെ തീരത്ത്. ബദാമി & ഐഹോളിനൊപ്പം യുനെസ്കോയുടെ ലോക പൈതൃക സ്ഥലമാണിത്. ചാലൂക്യൻ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ കിരീടധാരണം നടന്ന സ്ഥലമാണ് പട്ടടക്കൽ. ഐഡോളിനൊപ്പം പട്ടടക്കൽ ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യൻ ക്ഷേത്ര വാസ്തുവിദ്യയുടെ തൊട്ടിലായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ആറാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിനും ഒമ്പതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിനും ഇടയിലാണ് ഈ സ്മാരകങ്ങൾ നിർമ്മിച്ചത്. ദ്രാവിഡ, നാഗര, ഫംസന, ഗജപ്രസ്ഥ മാതൃകകളെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ച് വ്യത്യസ്ത വാസ്തുശൈലിയിലാണ് ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. പട്ടഡക്കൽ ഗ്രാമത്തോട് ചേർന്നുള്ള വലിയ കോമ്പൗണ്ടും തുറന്ന പ്രദേശവുമുള്ള ഒരു സുരക്ഷിത സമുച്ചയത്തിനകത്താണ് മികച്ച ഘടനകൾ. പട്ടപക്കലിലെ പ്രധാന സ്മാരകങ്ങൾ വിരുപാക്ഷ ക്ഷേത്രം, സംഗമേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രം, മല്ലികാർജ്ജുന ക്ഷേത്രം, കാശിവിശ്വനാഥ ക്ഷേത്രം, ഗൽഗനാഥ ക്ഷേത്രം എന്നിവയാണ്.

ബദാമി ബസ് സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ നിന്ന് 1.5 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയുള്ള അഗസ്ത്യ തടാകത്തിന്റെ തീരത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മനോഹരമായ ഒരു കെട്ടിടമാണ് ഭൂതനാഥ ക്ഷേത്രം. ശിവന് സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂതനാഥ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് മൂന്ന് വശത്തും വെള്ളമുണ്ട്. എട്ടാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തിൽ ചാലൂക്യരാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പണികഴിപ്പിച്ചത്. ദ്രാവിഡ ശൈലിയിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം അഗസ്ത്യ തടാകമായി ഉയർന്നുവരുന്നു, കൂടാതെ മഴക്കാലത്ത് തടാകത്തിലെ ജലനിരപ്പ് മുഴുവൻ ശേഷിയിലെത്തുമ്പോൾ അപ്രാപ്യമാകും. ശിവപ്രതിമയുള്ള തൂണുകളുള്ള മുഖ മണ്ഡപവും സഭ മണ്ഡപവും അകത്തെ ശ്രീകോവിലുമാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലുള്ളത്. ആത്മാവിന്റെയും ആത്മാവിന്റെയും ആത്മാവിന്റെയും ദൈവം കൂടിച്ചേർന്നതാണ് ഭൂതനാഥിന്റെ രൂപം. ഉള്ളിലെ ഇരുണ്ട ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ദേഷ്യത്തിന്റെ രൂപത്തിൽ ശിവന്റെ ഒരു ചിത്രമുണ്ട്. ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യൻ ക്ഷേത്ര വാസ്തുവിദ്യയുടെ ആദ്യകാല രീതികളും ഘട്ടങ്ങളുമാണ് ഭൂതനാഥ് സ്മാരകങ്ങൾ.

The Ramalingeshwara temple, situated in Avani town of the Kolar district is constructed in the dravida style. According to the Archaeological Survey of India, the temple is an ornate 10th-century Nolamba dynasty construction which was partially renovated later by the Chola dynasty.

Avani is a place of great antiquity. According to the ASI, an inscription here dated 399 A.D. refers to it. Later inscriptions call it the *"Gaya of the south"*. Legend has it that Avani was the house of the Hindu saint Valmiki (author of the epic Ramayana) and that the Hindu god Rama visited Avani during his return to Ayodhya from Lanka. According to the legend, Rama's sons Lava and Kusha were born here on an existing hill (called "Lava-Kusha betta" in native Kannada) a short distance from the temple compound.

*Chunchi Waterfalls*

The waterfalls from the river Arkavati, about 90 kms from Bangalore city. It is en route to Mekedatu and Sangama. Sangama is a place where 3 rivers join. Bus service is available to all the places. Walking along the river is pleasant experience. Mekedatu is a rocky valley where the river flows surrounded by forest.
