WHITE NAPED WOODPECKER 🇮🇳

The white-naped woodpecker is a woodpecker which is a widespread but scarce breeder in the Indian Subcontinent. This flameback is a species associated with open forest and scrub with some trees. It nests in a tree hole, laying one or two white eggs.
The white hind neck extends down the back, and the black shoulder patches also continue onto the back to form a V-shape bordering the white. The rest of the upperparts and wings are golden yellow. The rump and tail are black, and the underparts are white with dark chevron markings. The head is whitish with a dark moustache stripe and a black eye patch that extends down the neck sides.

LIFE : THE BRIGHT SIDE

Video link : https://youtu.be/1_CzEHTqVME

I’ve been working on several wildlife videos I’ve shot during my travel and exploring. A blessing in disguise, this quarantined season is the best time to sit down in peace and edit all the videos I’ve been waiting to post. I happened to stumble upon this amazing short video I made last year. While I’ve edited other amazing videos, this particular video really caught my attention for being such a metaphor for this unprecedented times we are facing today.
This video shot in ... shows you the bird perched on the branch of the nest it built to lay eggs and start its family. There is nothing new in the fact that it takes a lot of hard work and risk for a bird to build its home. I spent significant amount of time watching this bird build its nest and I can vouch for the fact that this little soul had a lot of willpower and love. A few days later there was an unexpected storm which unfortunately brought down the entire nest over night.
The whole scene was very heartbreaking to watch the next day. Nature has its way of working this out. Like they say survival of the fittest..!! This bird probably had no idea that the nest she built with so much hope and hard work would be destroyed in seconds. As I watched the bird take a last few looks at the branch where her nest rested on and then taking off to find a new hope to begin again, it dawned upon me that life is so much like this.. So many of us have build dreams about jobs, businesses and families. This sudden virus outbreak brought down so much for many of us. We’ve lost what we once never imagined to lose. Many of us are still unsure of what the future holds. But just like the bird took flight looking forward instead of sitting on the branch forever, we as brave and will powered beings must also keep our eyes at the bright future that’s in store for us.
Always remember that no storm or rain can bring down dreams of a bird that is brave enough to build its nest again..

DOWNY WOODPECKER - MALE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Downy woodpeckers are native to forested areas, mainly deciduous, of North America. Their range consists of most of the United States and Canada, except for the deserts of the southwest and the tundra of the north. Mostly permanent residents, northern birds may migrate further south; birds in mountainous areas may move to lower elevations.Downy woodpeckers nest in a tree cavity excavated by the nesting pair in a dead tree or limb. In the winter, they roost in tree cavities. Downy Woodpeckers forage on trees, picking the bark surface in summer and digging deeper in winter. They mainly eat insects, also seeds and berries. In winter, especially, downy woodpeckers can often be found in suburban backyards with mature trees. There, they may feed on suet and shelled peanuts provided by mesh birdfeeders.

GULL AND ITS HABITAT

In the search of food for his mate while the female was waiting on the shore ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gulls are often called garbage birds because they eat almost anything. Gulls eat eggs and will even eat seagull eggs and young chicks. They often fight with each other over food.
Sea gulls like freshwater, but they’ll drink sea water. Two glands near their eyes drip the salt in the water so they don’t get sick.
Sea gulls make nests simply by hollowing out a soft spot in the sand. They try to choose an area near grass, rocks or logs for protection.Sea gulls mate for life. During mating, the male brings the female food. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AMERICAN ROBIN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FACTS :

An American Robin can produce three successful broods in one year. On average, though, only 40 percent of nests successfully produce young. Only 25 percent of those fledged young survive to November. From that point on, about half of the robins alive in any year will make it to the next. Despite the fact that a lucky robin can live to be 14 years old, the entire population turns over on average every six years.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Robins eat a lot of fruit in fall and winter. When they eat honeysuckle berries exclusively, they sometimes become intoxicated.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The oldest recorded American Robin was 13 years and 11 months old. .

PURPLE SUNBIRD

Like the unrelated New World hummingbirds, to which sunbirds are often compared, sunbirds have long and slender, highly curved bills, tube-shaped tongues, and feed primarily on nectar and small insects. However, they perch when feeding rather than hovering as the hummingbirds do. They are typically small birds, with the largest, the great sunbird reaching a maximum length of 81/2 in., and are native to forest and brush throughout Africa, Asia. Some common species are the variable sunbird , the purple sunbird , and the golden-winged sunbird . The males of most species are brightly colored, with metallic, sometimes velvety, plumage.

BLUE BEARDED BEE EATER

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DESCRIPTION:
This species is found in openings in patches of dense forest. It is found in the Malayan region and also extends into the Western Ghats in southwestern India. The blue feathers of its throat are elongated and often held fluffed up giving it the name. They are not as gregarious or active as the smaller bee-eaters, and their square ended tail lacks the typical "wires" made up of the shafts of the longer central tail feathers in many species.

HABITS:
This bird has a loud call, but does not call frequently. It is also not as active as the smaller bee-eaters. The calls include cackling hornbill like calls, a dry "Kit-tik... Kit-tik" in a series or hollow nasal "kyao" calls. Pairs may engage in duets of cackling and rattling which ends in short purring notes. The flight is undulating and very barbet-like. .
