Tiger | Kabini | Dec 2020
We started towards forest at around 6AM in the morning. It was a cloudy Winter morning & provides a simplified, yet inspiring version of the forest we know so well in other seasons. I welcome its cool, calm colors after many weeks of staying at home due to the pandemic. Uncovering the beauty and details of this place during winter is truly magical. We started with 5Km Road and the forest was absolute silence, It is not the silence that relaxes us in nature, but the soothing sounds we hear when noise is left behind. The sounds of nature, chirping birds, wind whispering in the leaves, connect and soothe us and bring us the feeling of belonging.
At around 8.45am, one of our safari vehicle had seen the tiger and that's when we saw them stopping the vehicle and rushed towards that and we could this beauty walking on the side of the forest road, truly majestic.
He's none other than, Tiger Tank Male.

Osprey | Kabini | Dec 2020
The osprey or more specifically the western osprey — also called sea hawk, river hawk, and fish hawk — is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey. The osprey tolerates a wide variety of habitats, nesting in any location near a body of water providing an adequate food supply. As its other common names suggest, the osprey's diet consists almost exclusively of fish.

Red headed Vulture | Kabini | Aug 2019

The red-headed vulture (Sarcogyps calvus), also known as the Asian king vulture or Indian black vulture or pondicherry vulture

The red-headed vulture is one of the few species of large vulture that does not live in large groups, usually found alone or in a breeding pair.Like most vultures their diet also consists of carrion and they have been observed feeding on the carcasses of large ungulates, birds, turtles and fish.

The species has experienced a dramatic decline in both population size and distribution. In India it has been estimated that the population decreased by over 90% in just 10 years. This was sighted in Kabini after a very long time by me in 2019.

Leopard with a Kill | Kabini | August 2019

Leopard often eat their lunch sitting on a tree and we were lucky to see a leopard with Kill on a tree at around 6.30PM in our safari (low light condition after heavy rain). After bringing down a spotted deer, leopards tend to drag their kill up into a tree and there is reason behind that, If a leopard does not bother to hoist its kill into the tree, it risks losing its meal to Wild dogs or Vulture. Research also shows that Leopard can carry food almost half or one and a half times more than its own weight.

The moment Leopard saw the Vehicle it became more conscious and started watching us than finishing its meal. If you carefully watch the branch on the tree we can see the left over meal.

Male Tiger on the bank of river Kibini | Kabini | August 2019

One of my dream shot to spot a tiger on the banks of river kabini. It was a rainy day morning and with no luck we entered the safari Zone and were in search of cats. Initial one hour of safari it was pin drop silence without any moments and we thought its going to be a dry safari as it was pouring heavily. Forest looks so damn green and we were blessed to be in forest enjoying the beauty of mother nature.

While on safari, we were on the way towards the backwater area and we could see fresh pug mark of tiger near the backwater but at one point of time we had to give up the track as the safari end point approached but we suspected there is nothing as in backwater area there was nothing except for peacocks. We spent sometime in backwater enjoying the nature and backwater of kabini, it was time and we were supposed to leave that area and our vehicle started moving and our naturalist who was sitting on the last seat corner whispered...tiger tiger....yes, everybody in jeep was exited to see this male tiger walking across the bank of river kabini. We also saw this tiger trying to stalk peacock but couldn't succeed. Will be posting those pics may be a little late and right now enjoy the tiger on the banks of river kabini...

Kabini never disappoints even in rain ....

Tiger | Kabini | August 2019

This was my early morning Safari on the 1st Day of our Trip. Previous night had heavy rain, so chances of sighting a predator was very less but the forest looked green everywhere, what else you want. I was enjoying the nature thoroughly with light drizzle in the morning safari. Wow...What a way to start the Safari....We started with 5Km Road and crossed the checkpost at around 6.20am, our vehicle continued in the 5Km road and another took a ring road route...As soon as we entered the forest, we saw a wild boar followed by a beautiful elephant...at around 6.30am, we got a call from another driver from the ring road about the tiger sighting...we could rush there in 5 min or so and that's when we sighted this bold and beautiful tiger walking on the side of the road with head on....Simply beautiful !!!
