A traditional bamboo bridge in the Garden of Caves, Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, India.

These bridges are a defining feature of Meghalaya, traditionally constructed by local villagers to traverse crevices and rivers
built entirely from bamboo and local wooden blocks, avoiding the use of nails, metals, or cement.

Such walkways are part of popular trekking routes, including the Mawryngkhang Trek, also known as the Bamboo Trail.

Mawmluh-Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL) plant is located in the East Khasi hills, Sohra (Cherrapunji), Meghalaya.

The state-owned cement plant, was established in the early 1960s, is currently experiencing significant operational challenges and staff have faced uncertainty regarding its future. Recently the Meghalaya government has introduced a Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for employees of the plant.

Umananda Island, situated in the middle of the Brahmaputra River,
recognized as the smallest inhabited river island in the world.

It was named as Peacock Island, by a British officer who thought its structure resembled the splayed feathers of a peacock.

The island is home to the historic Umananda Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva built in 1694.
