Rating: 4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟

"The Indian Emergency” by Kumar Kinshuk is a suspenseful historical fiction novel set during the 1975 Emergency in India. It follows four individuals from different social classes involved in anti-government protests: Dhiraj Sahay, a teacher; Umar Farooqui, a disillusioned poet; Rajendra Agarwal, an entrepreneur; and Rajan Pandit, a jailor. Their personal struggles and hardships are vividly portrayed, making their characters feel real and relatable.

Kinshuk’s narrative is rich with historical detail, immersing readers in the era’s tension and hope. The inclusion of Urdu poetry through Umar Farooqui, the Shayar, adds a lyrical and emotional depth to the story. The novel also emphasizes unity amidst adversity, with characters from diverse backgrounds uniting to defend their country’s democratic values.

A romance between Deepak and Guria adds another layer of complexity. Amidst political unrest, their relationship exemplifies the human capacity to connect and thrive even in difficult times. As the regime’s hardships intensify, their bond deepens, revealing their friendship, love, and struggles.

Overall, “The Indian Emergency” is a compelling read for history buffs and anyone interested in India’s past. By blending historical truths with an engaging narrative, Kinshuk creates an unforgettable reading experience. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply looking for a well-crafted tale, this novel promises to leave a lasting impression.

Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟
Wuhan: Not a Love Story by Razi is a gripping novel that captures the confusion caused by the COVID-19 breakout in Wuhan. The protagonist characters involved are Celina, a molecular biologist working at Harvard while Victor is an FBI agent who joins the quest to understand the virus, also Seeker who works for D.R.A.S.T.I.C a Secret Society, which sounds like S.H.I.E.L.D from Avengers Movies. They engage in smart-mouthed dialogues with references to pop culture mainly the Avengers series which spices up the otherwise action-packed story.

Razi also employs vibrant colours which along with the story line rooted in science also contains elements of traditional Chinese folk tales. For those who are not into science, a deep dive into molecular genetics could be a bit much, but Razi does a good job of explaining the scientific concepts, and even when using scientific terms, readers who are not from science background will not be completely lost.

What stands out by far is the component that focuses on humanity—specific actions of people during the pandemic. It is not a conventional portrayal of love, but there is a way of expressing the love and togetherness of the people in times of crisis. The affection depicted between characters makes stand and add a heartwarming dimension to the story.

The epilogue's connection to Kolkata is a lovely touch, adding depth and a personal connection to the story. This is my third book by Razi, which I have read, and I remain captivated by the author’s style of writing and the chosen plots.

Overall, Wuhan: Not a Love Story is a gripping novel that will make the reader ponder over the roots of the pandemic and entertain them at the same time. In my opinion, anyone who is interested in global affairs, thriller-genre, or simply seeking for some fresh perspective on the pandemic is definitely recommended to pick up this book. Furthermore, the jokes it contains make reading the book even more delightful.

"Anthology of the Best Short Stories from Spain," edited by Riddhi Maitra, is a delightful journey through the heart of Spanish literature. This collection brings together fifteen gems from literary giants like Pedro Antonio De Alarcón, Serafín Estébanez Calderón, Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, José Selgas, and Fernán Caballero.

Among these treasures, "The White Butterfly" by José Selgas stands out as a personal favorite. This enchanting tale weaves a delicate narrative around themes of love and loss, capturing the ephemeral beauty of life through the metaphor of a white butterfly. Selgas' storytelling is both poignant and evocative, leaving a lasting impression on the reader.

Anthology of the Best Short Stories from Russia” by Bee Books is a literary treasure trove that transports readers into the heart of Russian culture and thought. This collection, curated by Riddhi Maitra, features the timeless works of literary legends like Alexander Pushkin, Nicolai Gogol, Ivan Turgenev, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov, and Maxim Gorky.

Each story in this anthology is a window into the soul of Russia, offering a glimpse into its rich cultural tapestry. The narratives are imbued with themes of love, struggle, and existential musings, making them universally relatable. My personal favorite, “Where There is Love, There is God” by Leo Tolstoy, stands out for its profound simplicity and spiritual depth. It beautifully encapsulates the essence of Tolstoy’s philosophy, reminding us that love is the true path to divinity.

These short stories transcend boundaries, allowing readers to connect deeply with Russian literature. A solid 5 star for me: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Tomson Robert’s “The Celebrity CEO” is a thrilling journey through the tumultuous world of corporate power. The protagonist, Ariyan, is a magnetic figure whose life spans the bustling metropolises of Dubai and India. His story is a modern-day Icarus tale, showcasing the dizzying heights of success and the perilous fall that follows.

The author’s narrative is emotionally charged, capturing Ariyan’s climb to the top and his inevitable descent. The book reflects the fleeting nature of fame and the fine line between genius and madness. The vivid characters and incisive prose reveal a profound understanding of human intricacies.

The novel goes beyond Ariyan’s personal saga, exploring the deeper meanings of power and self-identity. It resonates with anyone who has ever aimed high and faced the consequences of their ambitions. “The Celebrity CEO” is a universal narrative about personal battles and the masks we wear.

It interweaves themes of friendship, love, mental health, faith, and family into a story that deeply impacts readers, making it a memorable addition to any book collection.

Concluding, “The Celebrity CEO” is a compelling read about life’s essence and the pursuit of achievement. It delves into perseverance, redemption, and the significance of new beginnings, teaching us that an end can signal a fresh start. Setbacks become the groundwork for a resurgence, and each low point offers a chance to rise anew.

The book concludes with unexpected twists, adding to its allure and making it a page-turner. One of the most moving parts is Ariyan facing his father’s dark past and traumatizing childhood. The novel imparts valuable lessons and wisdom, inspiring reflection and a sense of renewed purpose.

An inspiring must-read, “The Celebrity CEO” celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of second chances. It’s a book that will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading. Happy Reading! 📖

Rating:- 4.5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐

"The Mars Conspiracy” by Razi is an engaging mix of science fiction and historical narrative, transporting readers from ancient Egypt to a futuristic Mars colonization. The narrative intertwines the enigmatic Pharaoh Ankhenaten with a contemporary Mars mission, known as “Her Deshur” in Egyptian lore, sparking curiosity about our cosmic role and extraterrestrial life.

What stands out in this book is the straightforward storytelling, which renders complex scientific concepts accessible. The plot is meticulously crafted, balancing scientific accuracy and imaginative fiction, making for an absorbing read. The story unfolds across two timelines: one in 1300 BC at Ancient Egypt and another in the present day.

The pace is brisk, and the writing is so captivating that it’s hard to put the book down. Although it starts off abruptly, the intensity builds up, ensuring a thrilling experience.

The characters are richly portrayed, with their hidden motives adding layers of mystery that keep the reader engaged till the very end. For sci-fi enthusiasts familiar with the genre’s cinema, the book’s vivid descriptions allow for a cinematic reading experience, as if watching a movie through words.

Classifying this book into a single genre is challenging; it’s a blend of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Mythology, Suspense, and Thriller.

However, no book is without its flaws. The plot could be more expansive, and its reader-friendly approach makes it somewhat predictable for seasoned readers, like I anticipated the ending 50 pages before it concluded. Additionally, the book cleverly incorporates an anagram of Elon Musk’s name, “Noel,” which could be a nod to SpaceX.

In summary, “The Mars Conspiracy” is a compelling read for science fiction aficionados and those intrigued by the mysteries of the unknown. It stands as a testament to Razi’s skill in crafting a narrative that is as informative as it is exhilarating, making it a noteworthy addition to the genre.
