Rajnish Katyal, a name synonymous with news as well as street photography in North India. The ability to look at an object of desire through the barrel of his bioscope. He has had the occasion to zoom in on attractive people and places through the lens of his camera and capture the moments for eternity. Flawless. These images are so eloquent that you want to talk to them, possess them, take them h
ome, adorn your walls with them to enrich and inspire. He has shot everything from the rough and tumble of daily news to the placid and choreographed events that unfold with clockwork precision. Rajnish Katyal is a lensman par excellence. To a layman, he is a shutterbug who, like many others - hobbyists and professionals, is indulging himself. But to a connoisseur, he is an artist with a rare and roving eye for beauty. One who is regularly romancing with lights and landscapes to produce esoteric artwork. North of New Delhi, his craft has no comparison. Those who know him well know where his inspiration and influences are coming from: he has the lineage of the legendary S Paul and Raghu Rai. He has trained under the supervision of S Paul whom he considers his mentor. The journey from apprenticeship to artistry has taken him over 20 years. Rajnish uses both film and digital mediums with equal ease. His most memorable work is rooted in northern India - in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Chandigarh, though he has regularly ventured out to diverse places like Kolkata, Kargil, Kathmandu and Panaji.
