Wrestling practice in Delhi.

We were walking toward the sunrise near a famous ghat in Delhi when we saw a group of guys exercising and preparing the mud. We didn’t know what was going on until we started chatting with them, and it turned out they were having wrestling practice. We stayed for the whole session and documented the start of their day. What a side quest.

Orange views from Wadi Rum.

We filmed a lot here with a local climber Faisal Al Rifai who is developing bouldering areas in Jordan. We ate a traditional lunch out in the desert and didn’t see any scorpions but saw a lot of beautiful views.

This set of postcards and a few other shots on my film roll are the only things left from this trip after I got robbed in Mexico this year. So I definitely need to come back and tell this story properly.

Unpredictable India.

On our first proper day in India, we took a tuk-tuk to the other side of the river in Agra to scout a view for a morning shoot. We drove past a place with a podium and lots of decorations, it looked like something was about to happen there.

Our driver told us it was happening in a few days and that there was nothing going on that day, but we decided to check it out anyway.

It started with people singing. Soon, we found ourselves in the front row of the ceremony, surrounded by the friendliest people. Took a lot of selfies and It all culminated in a crazy celebration- colors everywhere, people dancing, and an incredible atmosphere.

A great introduction to India and the Holi festival.

Pursuit of creating by Big Sun.

Frames from the first story of Why we shot in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. It was the first time I actually had the idea to explore the “why” of remarkable people through a series of videos. Ryan was pure inspiration, both in his philosophy of life and in the way he pursues the things he does. Full video on youtube/JustWhyClub

7Hills Skatepark in Amman is the first skatepark in Jordan. It was built by volunteers and is run by the 7Hills Foundation. It’s a place where many refugee kids have found a sense of freedom, where they can meet and have fun.

7Hills has several programs for kids, offering free lessons and gear at the skatepark. They also travel with their bus and portable ramps to refugee camps and neighborhoods.

The widows celebration,
during Holi is one of the rare moments when widows, traditionaly marginalized, are encouraged to celebrate publicly and freely.

Holi itself unfolds over several days, each with its own meaning and rituals, but its most iconic expression remains the chaos of color.
I enjoyed photographing these moments as much as I enjoyed experiencing them.

It wasn’t easy though. Shooting film in the middle of flying color for modern photographer meant guessing exposure through a phone app covered in powder, protecting my camera in my plastic bag case, and manually focusing every frame. Feels good to show you these shots.
