🕉️ The Saint of Ambubachi 2026 — Maa Kamakhya Temple, Guwahati
At the foot of Nilachal Hill, where the Brahmaputra whispers ancient hymns, I had the privilege of witnessing one of India's most extraordinary spiritual spectacles — Ambubachi Mela 2026.
This portrait captures a Naga Sadhu in his full divine adornment — his face painted with sacred vibhuti (ash), neck draped in countless strands of Rudraksha malas, and his head crowned with a magnificent floral tower of marigolds, lotus blossoms, and blue butterfly pea flowers. His gaze holds the stillness of someone who has long transcended the ordinary world.
Ambubachi Mela is one of the largest Hindu gatherings in Northeast India, held annually at the Kamakhya Shakti Peeth — one of the 51 Shakti Peethas — celebrating the earth's fertility and the divine feminine. Thousands of sadhus, saints, and pilgrims from across the subcontinent gather here, making it a rare window into living Shaivite and Ta***ic traditions.
