We have functional Green Office which concentrates on the green rating in and around the institute. We have Sunshine, counseling cell where we take care of the emotional needs of every student

We at IIT Hyderabad focus not on just academics but on sports with full enthusiasm by organizing intra college competitions, sports meet with Pan IIT alumni and other colleges in Hyderabad. We also participate with much enthusiasm, the Inter IIT sports meet, an annual sport event conducted for all IITs and similar institutes.

IIT Hyderabad vaccinates 106 dogs on its campus in a single day today as part of a drive to strengthen campus safety.

As part of its continued efforts to ensure a safe, healthy and hygienic campus environment for residents,
IIT Hyderabad conducted a one-day mass Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) drive for community dogs across the campus.

A total of 106 community dogs were vaccinated during the drive, coordinated by IIT Hyderabad in collaboration with the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Sangareddy, People for Animals (PFA), Hyderabad, and Blue Cross of Hyderabad.

The successful completion of the drive was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Institute, veterinary authorities, animal-welfare organisations, and campus community, including students.

We are thankful to all those who helped us in this effort.

🏆 A Moment of Pride for | National Teachers’ Award 2026 to Prof. Kirti Chandra Sahu

is proud to share and congratulate Prof. Kirti Chandra Sahu, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, on being honoured with the National Teachers' Award 2026 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, New Delhi

The National Teachers Award is conferred by the Hon’ble President of India, recognising exceptional educators for their outstanding contributions to teaching, research, innovation, mentoring and academic leadership.

Prof. Sahu is a distinguished teacher, researcher and academic leader whose pioneering research on the shape and size distributions of raindrops at different altitudes contributes to a better understanding of rainfall and improved rainfall prediction. He has developed a unique experimental facility that simulates the atmospheric conditions experienced by raindrops as they descend from clouds to the ground, with potential applications in weather forecasting and climate modelling.

As a founding faculty member of the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Prof. Sahu has made significant contributions to curriculum development, student mentoring and academic leadership, further strengthening the Institute’s culture of excellence in education and research.

He is a recipient of several prestigious honours, including the Young Scientist Awards of the Indian National Science Academy, the National Academy of Sciences, India, and the Indian Academy of Sciences, as well as the VASVIK Award. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, the Indian Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Physics, UK, and has also been awarded the J. C. Bose Grant (formerly known as the J. C. Bose National Fellowship).

IIT Hyderabad extends its heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Kirti Chandra Sahu on this prestigious national recognition and celebrates his remarkable contributions to teaching, research and academic leadership.
