Trimurti with their respective vahans on celling of Padawali Temple Near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

Bramha on Hamsa and then Shiva on Nandi and last Vishnu on Garuda (Left to Right).

The temple probably dedicated to Lord Shiv is believed to be built during 8th to 10th century. During this time the nearby area was populated and came to be known as Padawali or ‘surrounded by hills’.

The trinity of Brahm, Vishnu and Shiv are depicted during their childhood, youth and old days.

Standing and looking up at the carvings will make your jaws drop. The best way to admire this wonder is to lie down on your back and just feast your eyes on one of the most astounding sculptures in India.

Near the Gwalior Fort and dedicated to Vishnu in his Padmanabha form, like most Hindu and Jain temples in this region, it is mostly in ruins and was badly damaged from numerous invasions and Hindu-Muslim wars in the region. Gopachal rock-cut Jain monuments, also called Gopachal Parvat Jaina monuments, are a group of Jain carvings dated to between 7th and 15th century. They are located around the walls of the Gwalior Fort, Madhya Pradesh. They depict Tirthankaras in seated Padmasana posture as well as standing Kayotsarga posture, in the typical naked form of Jain iconography.

The number of Jain rock shrines at Gwalior, with numerous monumental statues, is unmatched anywhere else. James Burgess writes: "In the 15th century, during the reign of the Tomara Rajas, the Jains seem to have been seized with an uncontrollable impulse to convert the cliff that sustains the fort into a great shrine in honour of their religion, and in a few years excavated the most extensive series of Jaina caves known to exist anywhere."

I look out the window sometimes to seek the color of the shadows and the different greens in the trees, but when I get ready to paint I just close my eyes and imagine a scene.

Picture from Kailashnath Temple, Ellora Caves, Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

In the given picture you can see that there are instances from Ramayan which are carved in the stone on the wall of Kailashnath Temple.

Some examples are in the second last line you can see that Vanaras are carrying stone on their head and back to built bridge on the sea.
Third last line you can see that Angad (Son of Baali) has made a throne from his tail and sitting on it.
In the third line you can see that Ram is hunting deer and Ravan has kidnapped Sita.

I cannot explain each and everything in a one Post, but yes you can see and understand everything.
All the carving is done by hand without using any advance technology, 1200-1300 years ago.
Isn't this amazing.
