DODA POLICE CRACKS LIVESTOCK THEFT CASE WITHIN 24 HOURS; TWO ACCUSED ARRESTED, STOLEN LIVESTOCK RECOVERED

In a swift and commendable action reflecting its firm commitment towards safeguarding public property and maintaining law and order, Doda Police has successfully solved a livestock theft case within 24 hours by arresting two accused persons and recovering the stolen livestock.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
1. Mohd Imran S/o Mohd Shafi R/o Dichhal, Tehsil Kahara, District Doda
2. Mohd Yasir S/o Ashraf R/o Dichhal, Tehsil Kahara, District Doda
One complainant namely Raman Kumar S/o Hira Lal R/o Dharyouth, Tehsil Kahara, District Doda approached Police Post Kahara and lodged a written complaint stating that during the intervening night, some unknown persons had forcibly broken the locks and door of his livestock shed and stolen 13 sheep and one goat.
Acting promptly on the complaint, a case vide FIR No. 43/2026 under sections 331(4), 305 BNS was registered at Police Station Gandoh and investigation was immediately set into motion.
Considering the gravity of the offence, a special investigation team was constituted under the leadership of SDPO Gandoh, assisted by SHO Police Station Gandoh and Incharge Police Post Kahara.
During the course of investigation, the investigating team worked tirelessly by collecting technical as well as human intelligence inputs and conducting extensive searches at various locations. Due to the sustained and coordinated efforts of the police team, the involvement of the above accused persons surfaced during investigation.
The accused persons were apprehended successfully by the police team and, during sustained questioning, confessed to their involvement in the commission of the crime. Subsequently, the stolen livestock comprising 13 sheep and one goat was recovered from their possession.
The swift detection of the case and recovery of the stolen property within a short span of time has been widely appreciated by the local residents, who hailed the prompt and professional action of Doda Police.
Doda Police remains committed to maintaining peace, ensuring public safety, and taking strict action against anti-social and criminal elements in the district. Further investigation into the case is underway to ascertain whether the accused are involved in other similar theft cases in the area.
