The genus Argiope consists of fairly large spiders that frequently feature a vividly colored abdomen. Many regions with tropical or temperate climates have one or more species that resemble each other. The origin of the name Argiope comes from the Latin term argentum, which translates to silver. Like most orb-weaving spiders, they possess a third claw that aids in constructing their complex webs.
Argiope pulchella belongs to the orb-weaver spider family, Araneidae. This species can be found from India to China, Indochina, and Sumatra. It is a synanthropic spider, frequently residing in environments related to human activity. The female constructs an orb-like web using silk, while the male does not construct a web but instead remains on the edges of the female's web.
