|| Pahad Puja ||

A documented glimpse into the Kanaisor Pahad Puja (also spelled Kanaishwar or Kanaisahar), one of the most culturally significant and vibrant folk-tribal festivals celebrated in the Jangalmahal region, right on the border of West Bengal (Jhargram district) and Jharkhand (Chakulia range). An ancient, living heritage where thousands gather to worship the landscape that sustains them, before the arrival of the monsoons.
The festival begins on the third Saturday of the Bengali month of Ashadha (usually early July). It is part of a sequence of hill pujas in the region (starting with Jamira Hill on the first Saturday, Gadrasini Hill on the second, and moving to Kanaisor on the third).
