Haystack Rock is a 235-foot (72-meter) unique monolith sea stack in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach is one of the most recognizable and popular attractions on the Oregon coast (pacific coast).


Some Facts about Haystack Rock/Cannon Beach:
1. It is sometimes claimed locally to be the third-tallest such "inter-tidal" (meaning it can be reached by land) structure in the world. [source: wiki]
2. Only few people visiting Cannon Beach can’t resist an urge to reach out and touch, or even climb the Haystack Rock.
3. The beach was named after a small, iron cannon that came ashore from a shipwrecked U.S. Navy schooner, "The Shark."

May 2014, my wife's first visit to pacific coastline. That was a half day trip from Portland. I was really lucky to get some good sunset shots that day and then drove back to Portland.

Only few miles from Las Vegas, Red Rock Canyon's scenic vistas are inspiring to both amateur and professional photographers. The conservation area showcases a set of large red rock formations.

Some facts about Red Rock Canyon:
1. The red color of some of the outcrops of the Aztec Sandstone is due to presence of iron oxide or hematite. Exposure to the elements caused iron minerals to oxidize or “rust,” resulting in red, orange, and brown-colored rocks. [source: redrockcanyonlv.org]
2. One of the most popular rock climbing destination near Las Vegas

Dec 2014, I happened to visit this place just before sunset and thought I would miss the sunset light on the red rocks. Mine was the last vehicle to enter the scenic drive. The sun was about to set adding a reddish hue to the canyon cliffs... I was yet to get a good snap. As I was driving with a heavy heart, approaching end of the loop drive, out of nowhere these foggy clouds appeared over the canyon blocking the sunset light changing the whole frame, mood and color. My shutter took care of the rest.

Other Facts about Crater Lake
1. With a depth of 1,949 feet (594 m), the lake is the deepest in the United States.
2. Because Crater Lake is filled almost entirely by snowfall, it is one of the clearest lakes anywhere in the world.
3. Crater Lake is considered as one of the 7 wonders of Oregon state.
4. Although snow occupies Crater Lake National Park throughout 8 months of the year (average annual snowfall is 14 m, or 533 in) but the lake rarely freezes over.

I took this picture on Apr 2014 and still I had to climb almost 3 story pile of snow covered field and lets not talk about the real feel temperature. :) Just to capture this lone unfrozen blue beauty.

The world-famous, lone-standing arch which has become a symbol of Utah is a natural sandstone arch located in Arches National Park, Utah, USA.

Other Facts related to the arch:
1. Delicate Arch is 60-foot-tall (18 m) freestanding natural arch.
2. This arch is so popular in Utah that you will find this arch on almost all Utah automobiles licence plate.
3. The Olympic torch relay for the 2002 Winter Olympics passed through the arch.
4. The trail to see Delicate Arch up close and personal is 3 miles (4.8 km) round-trip and climbs 480 feet (146 m).

This photo was taken (Oct 2014) just before sunset as I waited for almost 20 mins to get a clear picture of the Arch (without any people around)

Changey Falls at Lava (West Bengal, India) is an awe-inspiring sight. Forest, mountain and waterfall makes this place an excellent spot with natural abundance.

Lava is a hamlet in Darjeeling district in the northern part of West Bengal, India. This is a small tourist place mostly famous for Neora Valley National Park, Lava Jamgon Kongtrul Monastery, Rachela Mountain Peak and Changey Waterfalls.

This pic was taken on way to Lava where one can find beautiful tea plantation estates on both sides of the road....

Friends... I was almost out of touch with my photography page for a while..... Though over time I have seen fb likes and views on this page which made me overwhelmed... I have decided to comeback and post some nice landscape and misc pictures shot by me exclusively....

Ujjal Saha Lenscope is now US Lenco... This is just a rebranding and hopefully you all will like my new posts... keep viewing the pictures and share your honest feedback... You all have a good one....
