Stop photographing everything.
You see the subject.
You press the shutter.
It moves.
You press it again.
Different pose.
Another 20 frames.
And suddenly you have 500 photographs sitting in Lightroom.
But when you actually start editing…
how many of them really say something?
The problem isn't shooting a lot.
The problem is shooting without intention.
Before you press the shutter, ask yourself:
“What am I trying to say with this photograph?”
Observe.
Anticipate.
Wait.
Because sometimes, becoming a better photographer isn't about taking more photographs.
It's about becoming better at deciding which moments are worth photographing.
Shoot less. See more.

Now be honest — how many photographs are sitting in your Lightroom right now?

What you see on Instagram is not reality.
It is someone’s version of reality.

And as a wildlife photographer, you need to decide: are you documenting nature, or creating art?

Because the moment you press the shutter, you are making a choice.

What to include.
What to exclude.
What to emphasise.
What to hide.

A documentary photograph says:
“This is what happened.”

An artistic photograph says:
“This is how I want you to experience it.”

Both are valid.

But they are not the same.

We often judge wildlife photographs by sharpness, behaviour, rarity, perfect light, clean backgrounds and technical perfection.

But photography is not only about proving that you were there.

It is about deciding what your audience should feel when they see what you saw.

So don't blindly chase what is trending online.

Don't make photographs simply because you know they will perform.

Know what you stand for as an artist.

Document reality if that is your purpose.

Interpret reality if that is your voice.

But first—

Decide what you want to be.

The Sony 100–400mm F5.6–8 G OSS is one of those lenses that makes wildlife photography feel effortless when mobility matters.

From small birds in India to mammals across the Masai Mara, the 100–400mm range gives you the flexibility to quickly move from wider environmental compositions at 100mm to tighter portraits and action at 400mm, without changing lenses.

It features Optical SteadyShot (OSS) for more stable handheld shooting, fast and accurate autofocus, excellent G-series optical performance, a minimum focusing distance of around 1.3m, and a maximum magnification of approximately 0.20×, which is surprisingly useful when your subject comes closer.

The lens is also compact and relatively lightweight, making it a practical companion for long days in the field, while its dust- and moisture-resistant design adds confidence when shooting in challenging outdoor conditions.

For birds, mammals, action, portraits and environmental frames, the versatility of 100–400mm is the real strength.

Light, versatile, stabilised and built for wildlife on the move.

The Dark Knight

When your imagination becomes reality.

It was one of those rare moments that happened a few days ago. The rain was pouring in the background, the light was just enough to carve out a silhouette, and suddenly, this little frog looked like a character straight out of Gotham.

The rain created the atmosphere, while the rim light revealed just enough of the silhouette to make the imagination take over. For a moment, it wasn't just a frog sitting in the darkness, it was The Dark Knight, waiting for his next battle.

A new beginning - There are moments in nature that remind me why I keep going back into the forest, and this was one of them.

For years, this cicada lived underground. Hidden. Patient. Waiting for a moment it didn't even know would change everything.

When the time finally came, it climbed onto a leaf in the middle of the night and simply held on. Slowly, the shell on its back began to crack. Little by little, it pulled itself free. It looked fragile, exhausted, and completely vulnerable.

Then the magic happened.

Hanging upside down, its tiny wings slowly expanded, filling with life. Within a few hours, that soft, pale insect transformed into a stunning adult with glowing blue wings, ready to greet the world for the very first time.

Sometimes, the most beautiful stories happen in silence. All we have to do is slow down enough to notice them.

Nature's most beautiful stories begin by leaving the old behind.

I didn't just photograph a cicada, I witnessed the birth of a new life.

If someone had told me years ago that wildlife photography would become my life, I probably wouldn't have believed them.

I started this journey with nothing but curiosity, patience, and a camera. I wasn't thinking about awards, recognition, or even making a career out of it. I just wanted to spend time in nature and understand the wild a little better. Slowly, one experience led to another, and without realizing it, I found myself living a life I had only dreamed about.

The journey has been incredible. From photographing birds to mammals, from rhinos to tigers, from trekking through the Himalayas in search of the red panda to waiting for days to catch a glimpse of the snow leopard. Then came Africa, where the vast savannahs completely changed the way I looked at wildlife photography. And now, here I am, discovering an entirely different universe through macro photography.

Every chapter has taught me something new. Every destination has changed the way I see nature. And every challenge has made me a little more patient.

Life is funny that way. It rarely follows the plan we make. Looking back, I never imagined this would be my life. But I'm grateful that I didn't try to control every turn.

Sometimes, you don't need to know exactly where life is taking you. Just let it flow. Trust the journey. The only thing you need to control is your rudder.

Now I'm in Amboli, a new workplace, a new classroom, and another opportunity to see the world differently. I'm excited to slow down, observe the tiny wonders most people walk past, and create something fresh, thoughtful, and meaningful.

The journey continues, and I can't wait to see where it takes me next.
