A 27-year-old businessman from the electrical poles industry has been defrauded of Rs 57.75 lakh in a part-time job scam.

Lured by promises of easy money for minimal work, the man ended up transferring a large sum of money over a period of time before realising he had been scammed.

Ravinder Raina Relieved as J&K BJP President, Sat Sharma Takes Helm

Srinagar, Nov 3, KNT: Ravinder Raina, who recently lost the assembly elections from Nowshera constituency in Jammu and Kashmir, has been replaced as the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir unit.

Sat Sharma, has taken over as the new president of BJP’s J&K unit.

“This change in leadership comes after Raina's tenure, which began in 2018, had exceeded its expected duration,” the party said and termed the replacement a routine affair.

Raina's new role will be as a BJP's national executive member.

Notably, the BJP today is going to elect the Legislature Party Leader for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in Srinagar. [KNT]

*Residential House Gutted In Midnight Blaze In Bandipora Village*

Bandipora, Feb 07 (GNS): A residential house was gutted in a fire incident at Chitteybandy village in north Kashmir's Bandipora district during midnight, reports and officials said on Monday.

Reports reaching GNS said that the fire broke out at around 03:36 a.m. in the single story house of Khurshid Ahmad Ganie son of late Ghulam Mohammad at Ganai Mohalla, Chittybandy Bandipora.

The structure along with household items was completely gutted in the blaze, they said.

A police official while confirming the incident said that the cause of fire is being ascertained but apparently seems to have been caused by electric short circuit.(GNS)

*South Kashmir: Gunfight rages in Shopian, Two militants trapped*

Srinagar, January 22:(GNS) Encounter rages between militants and government forces in Kilbal area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Saturday.

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police and army's 34RR launched a cordon and search operation in Kilbal.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.

As per sources two militants are believed to be trapped.(GNS)
