Tungnath Temple, Chopta, Uttarakhand, India ❤️
A short but steep hike of 4.5 kms from the stunningly beautiful Chopta Valley in Garhwal Himalayas takes you to Tunganath Shiva temple at an altitude of 12,074 feet. It is known to be the highest Shiva temple in the world.
The trail and the slopes are covered in thick blanket of snow in the winter months and the arrival of spring season turns it into a place dotted with densely stunning rhododendron flowers in shades of red and pink, both on the trees and the walking trail (fallen ones).
While the rhododendrons do not survive beyond 4 weeks, the arrival of summer season followed by the monsoons, turns the slopes into velvety green interspersed with wild mountain flowers in riot of colours.
